Bilal Maarbani
Bilal Maarbani (12 February 1998) is a Lebanon international rugby league footballer who plays as a or er for the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in the NSW Cup. He was selected to represent the Lebanon in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup and at the 2019 Rugby League World Cup 9s. Early career and personal life Born in Sydney, Australia, Maarbani is of Lebanese descent through his father Omar, who was born in 1973 in Tripoli, Lebanon. He played his junior rugby league for Bankstown Sports, and attended Bass Hill High School. He is an apprentice electrician. Playing career Maarbani originally signed with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, but moved to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at the start of the 2017 season. He played in Manly's 2017 Under 20s grand final win 20-16 against Parramatta Eels, scoring a try before half time. National Youth Competition (rugby League)
The NRL Under-20s (known commercially as the Holden Cup due to sponsorship from Holden) was the top league of professional rugby league for players aged 20 years or younger in Australasia. Contested by sixteen teams, the Under-20s competition commenced in 2008 and was originally known as the Toyota Cup. The competition runs parallel to Australasia's professional competition, the National Rugby League, with NYC matches played immediately prior to the NRL games. Similar to the NRL, the NYC enforces a salary cap and puts a heavy focus on life outside football for the players. The New Zealand Warriors were the most successful club in the competition's short history, with three premierships from four Grand Final appearances; in 2010, 2011 and 2014. Blacktown is a suburb in the City of Blacktown, in Greater Western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Blacktown is located west of the Sydney central business district. It is one of the most multicultural places within Greater Sydney. Parramatta Eels
The Parramatta Eels are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that competes in the National Rugby League. The Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club was formed in 1947, and their home ground was Parramatta Stadium (formerly Cumberland Oval). As of 2019, Parramatta's home ground stadium has been rebuilt and they now play as the co-tenants at Western Sydney Stadium, which sits on the same site that was once Parramatta Stadium. It took thirty years for the club to make the grand final, which they did in 1976 and 1977, losing on both occasions. However, this period foreshadowed their most successful period in the early 1980s, when they won four premierships and qualified for five grand finals in six seasons.
