"Biker Like an Icon" is a song by Paul McCartney from his 1993 album ''Off the Ground''. It was released as 7" and CD singles. History Commenting this song, Paul McCartney stated that the line "Biker like an icon" came from a conversation about photo cameras with his wife Linda McCartney. The phrase "I like a Leica" became "I like a Nikon" and the lyrics were built around that line with a story of a girl loving a biker like an icon. The song reached number 62 in Germany. Music video The music video for the song first aired on MTV's ''First Look'' television show. The clip was repeated the following day. Sir James Paul McCartney (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer, songwriter and musician who gained worldwide fame with the Beatles, for whom he played bass guitar and shared primary songwriting and lead vocal duties with John Lennon. "Midnight Special" is a traditional folk song thought to have originated among prisoners in the American South. The song refers to the passenger train ''Midnight Special'' and its "ever-loving light" (sometimes "ever-living light"). The song is historically performed in the country-blues style from the viewpoint of the prisoner and has been performed by many artists. History Lyrics appearing in the song were first recorded in print by Howard Odum in 1905: However, these lyrics are known to be floater lines, appearing in various African-American songs of that period, notably in the "Grade-Songs", which are about prison captains and have nothing to do with a train or a light. ''Unplugged (The Official Bootleg)'' is a live unplugged performance by Paul McCartney, recorded and released in 1991. Following the vastness of his world tour recently captured on ''Tripping the Live Fantastic'', McCartney relished the opportunity to strip back his songs and appear on the acoustic-only show ''MTV Unplugged'', which had only been on air for over a year at that point. Consequently, McCartney was the first in a long line of artists to release an album of their performance on the show. Unlike other artists who appeared on the acclaimed show with acoustic instruments plugged into amplifiers (producing the sound heard), McCartney's instruments were 100 percent unplugged. ''Off the Ground'' is the ninth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released on 2 February 1993. As his first studio album of the 1990s, it is also the follow-up to the well received ''Flowers in the Dirt'' (1989). Recording and structure After planning another world tour, The New World Tour, in 1993, to promote the album, McCartney chose to record ''Off the Ground'' with his touring band. Blair Cunningham joined on drums to replace Chris Whitten, who left to join Dire Straits. McCartney decided to record the album "live in the studio", meaning that the band would rehearse an entire song then record it in one take, instead of recording each vocal track and instrumental track separately.
