Big Vin Records
Big Vin Records was an American record label based in Arlington, Texas. The company was formed in February 2006 by former Pantera, Damageplan and Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and had a distribution deal with Fontana Records, which in turn is owned by Universal Music Group. Abbott started the label a year after the on-stage murder of his brother, Dimebag Darrell, on December 8, 2004. Seventh Void, the Hillbilly Orchestra, Fountainhead, and Mark "The Chinaman" Britten are among the artists signed to the label. Dimebag Darrell
Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 – December 8, 2004), best known by his stage name Dimebag Darrell, was an American musician. He was the guitarist of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, both of which he co-founded alongside his brother Vinnie Paul. He is often regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists of all time. A son of country music producer Jerry Abbott, Abbott began playing guitar at age 12, and Pantera released its debut album, ''Metal Magic'' (1983), when he was 16. Originally a glam metal musician, Abbott went by the stage name Diamond Darrell at the time. ''Dimevision'' is a series of videos that document Dimebag Darrell, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's career as a musician. The series' first installment, ''Dimevision Vol. One - "That's The Fun I Have..."'', was released on May 2, 2006, containing video clips of Darrell during his stints with Pantera and Damageplan, as well as earlier material. ''Heaven Is Gone'' is the first studio album by American heavy metal band Seventh Void. It sold around 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, peaking at number 21 on the '' Billboard'' Top Heatseekers chart. A music video was released for "Heaven Is Gone". Later, band friend Slitzy created a music video for "Last Walk in the Light" featuring live footage of the band. David Allan Coe (born September 6, 1939) is an American singer and songwriter. Coe took up music after spending much of his early life in reform schools and prisons, and first became notable for busking in Nashville. He initially played mostly in the blues style, before transitioning to country music, becoming a major part of the 1970s outlaw country scene. His biggest hits include " You Never Even Called Me by My Name", " Longhaired Redneck", " The Ride", "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile", and "She Used to Love Me a Lot". ''Rebel Meets Rebel'' is a country metal album by David Allan Coe and Pantera members Dimebag Darrell, Rex Brown, and Vinnie Paul. The music was written and recorded by the band when the musicians had time aside from their other projects, including Pantera's world tour supporting '' Reinventing the Steel''. The album was released on May 2, 2006, under Vinnie Paul's own label Big Vin Records, posthumously after Darrell's murder in December 2004. Background At the close of the decade, Coe met Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell in Fort Worth, Texas. The two musicians, struck by the similarity of the approaches between country and heavy metal, agreed to work together. Darrell was the son of Jerry Abbott, a country songwriter and producer. Seventh Void
Seventh Void was an American doom metal band composed of vocalist/guitarist Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly (both formerly of Type O Negative), guitarist Matt Brown (formerly of Uranium 235 and A Pale Horse Named Death), as well as bassist Hank Hell (Inhuman). History Originally conceived in 2003 by Kenny and Johnny, the band's personnel was not solidified until 2005 and songwriting began in earnest. The band's name is lifted from a line in ''Dante's Inferno''. Columbus Nightclub Shooting
On December 8, 2004, four people were murdered and three others were wounded in a mass shooting at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. The main target of the attack was "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, who was on stage performing with his band Damageplan at the time of the shooting. Three minutes after opening fire, the perpetrator, 25-year-old Nathan Gale, was shot and killed by police officer James Niggemeyer. Abbott sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other fatalities were Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, Damageplan's head of security who tackled Gale; Erin Halk, an Alrosa employee who tried to restrain Gale; and Damageplan fan Nathan Bray, who had jumped onto the stage to aid Abbott and Thompson. Vincent Paul Abbott (March 11, 1964 – June 22, 2018) was an American musician best known for being the drummer and co-founder of the heavy metal band Pantera. He also co-founded Damageplan in 2003 with his younger brother, 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, and was a member of Hellyeah for 12 years from 2006 until his death in 2018.
