''Big Thing'' is the fifth studio album by English new wave band Duran Duran. It was released on 18 October 1988 by EMI Records. The album reached number 15 on the UK Albums Chart and number 24 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. A CD reissue (with one bonus track) was released in 1994. The album was reissued as a three-disc box set on 27 September 2010. Background In 1988, the musical climate was changing, veering to a more dance-based groove. Duran Duran were known primarily as an early 1980s new wave and synth-pop act, and the band was sitting at a career crossroads; ''Big Thing'' was their stab at maintaining mainstream popularity. Turning to more synth- and bass-heavy grooves than their previous efforts, ''Big Thing'' was seen by many as the band's "house music" album. Duran Duran
Duran Duran () are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1978 by singer and bassist Stephen Duffy, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and guitarist/bassist John Taylor (bass guitarist), John Taylor. With the addition of drummer Roger Taylor (Duran Duran drummer), Roger Taylor the following year the band went through numerous personnel changes before May 1980, when they settled on their most famous line-up by adding guitarist Andy Taylor (guitarist), Andy Taylor and lead vocalist Simon Le Bon. When Duran Duran emerged they were generally considered part of the New Romantic scene. Innovators of the music video, Duran Duran were catapulted into the mainstream with the introduction of the 24-hour music channel MTV. The group was a leading band in the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the US in the 1980s. ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'', previously known as ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'', is a book that contains professional music reviews written and edited by staff members from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. First edition (1979) ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'' was the first edition of what would later become ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide''. It was edited by Dave Marsh (who wrote a large majority of the reviews) and John Swenson, and included contributions from 34 other music critics. ''All You Need Is Now'' is the thirteenth studio album by English New wave music, new wave band Duran Duran. Produced by Mark Ronson, a truncated version of the album was released digitally on 21 December 2010. A physical package was released on 21 March 2011 in Europe on the Tape Modern label (distributed by Edel Records, Edel), and on 22 March 2011 in the United States and Canada on S-Curve Records (distributed by Universal Music Group, Universal). The album peaked at number 11 in the UK, becoming the band's 13th Top 20 album. It debuted at number 119 on the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 chart on its initial December 2010 digital release, selling 15,000 copies in its first week. It reached number 29 upon its physical release in March 2011. The album had sold 76,000 copies in the US as of August 2015. Pop Trash
''Pop Trash'' is the tenth studio album by English new wave band Duran Duran. It was released on 19 June 2000 by Hollywood Records. ''Pop Trash'' was the band's first release after parting ways with EMI, with whom they had been signed since 1981. It was also the last to feature the trio of Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Warren Cuccurullo. The CD album went out of print in 2001. It was the only album the band released under Hollywood Records. After the album's poor sales, Duran Duran's contract with the label was terminated, and they would not release an album until 2004's ''Astronaut''. The album artwork, created by Andrew Day, features a rhinestone-encrusted car that belonged to Liberace. Since July 2008, the album is available for sale digitally through the iTunes Store in the United States and Europe, along with ''Medazzaland''. ''Duran Duran'' (commonly known as ''The Wedding Album'') is the seventh studio album and the second self-titled album by English new wave band Duran Duran. It was released on 11 February 1993 by Parlophone. After dwindling commercial success in the early 1990s, Duran Duran returned to the UK top five and US top 10 with this album, which has been certified Gold in the UK and Platinum in the US. The singles " Ordinary World" and " Come Undone" reached the US top 10 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The cover art by Nick Egan features wedding photos from the parents of the four band members. The term is generally used to refer to the first ever house music productions, which were by Chicago-based artists in the 1980s. A rave (from the verb: '' to rave'') is a dance party at a warehouse, club, or other public or private venue, typically featuring performances by DJs playing electronic dance music. The style is most associated with the early 1990s dance music scene when DJs played at illegal events in musical styles dominated by electronic dance music from a wide range of sub-genres, including techno, hardcore, house, and alternative dance. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument.
