Big School-Break
''Big School-Break'' (or ''Big Break'' translit. ''Bolshaya Peremena'', russian: Большая перемена) is a Soviet 1972 TV miniseries in 4 episodes. It was known in the US as ''The Long Recess'', and it is loosely based on Georgy Sadovnikov's novel ''Walk towards people'' (Иду к людям). Plot summary Nestor Petrovich Severov, a student preparing to start his PhD in Russian history, has his ego bruised by his girl-friend, who beats him on their entrance exam. He starts working at a night school, having had his spot at a graduate program taken away by the young woman. He soon finds out that teaching adults can be very hard, especially when they aren't willing to learn. Valery Benediktovich Nosik (Валерий Бенедиктович Носик, 9 October 1940, Moscow, USSR, — 4 January 1995, Moscow, Russian Federation) was a Soviet Russian film and stage actor, the People's Artist of Russia (1994) who appeared in more than 100 films, as well as in numerous stage productions at the Moscow Pushkin Drama (1965-1972) and the Maly Theatres (1972-1995). Biography Valery Nosik was born in 1940 to Benedict Nosek, a Pole who in the 1900s came to settle in Ukraine, and 'simplified' his surname by changing a letter. Lev Konstantinovich Durov ( rus, Лев Константинович Дуров, p=ˈlʲef kənstɐnʲˈtʲinəvʲɪdʑ ˈdurəf; 23 December 1931 – 20 August 2015) was a Soviet and Russian theatre and film actor who appeared in more than 200 films and numerous stage productions between 1955 and 2008. He was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1990. Durov came from the illustrious Durov family whose members included memoirist Nadezhda Durova and animal trainer Anatoly Durov. His aunt's husband ran the Maly Theatre in 1944–1947. Lev Durov married actress Irina Kirichenko (1931–2001) in 1954. Their daughter Ekaterina is also an actress. Mikhail Mikhailovich Yanshin (russian: Михаи́л Миха́йлович Я́ншин) (20 October 1902 – 17 July 1976) was a Soviet Union, Soviet stage and film actor. Biography Yanshin was born in the city of Yukhnov, located in the present-day Kaluga Oblast. As a young man he worked as a carpenter. In 1919 he volunteered for the Red Army.
