James Clark (shinty)
James "Big Jim" Clark (born 1973) is an ex- shinty player from Invergarry, Scotland. He gained fame from his last minute goals which secured a succession of Camanachd Cup triumphs for Fort William Shinty Club. Playing career He was a half-back early in his career, when he started out playing for Glengarry but soon moved to the Fort (a regional colloquialism for Fort William Shinty Club) in 1993. He was capped by Scotland at under-21 level and also graduated to the senior side. He once scored four goals in a MacTavish Cup final but still ended up on the losing side. James Myers Thompson (September 27, 1906 – April 7, 1977) was an American prose writer and screenwriter, known for his hardboiled crime fiction. Thompson wrote more than thirty novels, the majority of which were original paperback publications, published from the late-1940s through mid-1950s. Despite some positive critical notice—notably by Anthony Boucher in ''The New York Times''—he was little-recognized in his lifetime. Only after death did Thompson's literary stature grow. Cedric Ivan James Smith (25 August 1906 – 8 February 1979) was an English cricketer who played in five Test matches for the England cricket team between 1935 and 1937. Career Known as "Big Jim", Smith joined the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) ground staff in 1926 and played for Wiltshire until 1933. He qualified for Middlesex in 1934 and took 172 wickets at 18.88 to finish 6th in the bowling averages in his debut season. He was selected for the 1934–35 MCC tour of the West Indies on the strength of this performance and played in every Test there. On debut, he took five wickets in the second innings in Bridgetown. He also appeared for England against New Zealand at Old Trafford in 1937. Smith only batted 10 times in Tests, but until his last innings he never batted in the same position in two successive innings. James Lee Schrader (June 27, 1932 – January 16, 1972) was an American football center and tackle in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles from 1954 to 1964. James Roberts (21 February 1878 – 4 February 1967) was a New Zealand trade unionist, politician and was president of the Labour Party from 1937 to 1950. He was called 'Big Jim' and 'the uncrowned King of New Zealand' in recognition of the considerable influence he wielded during the period of the First Labour Government over policy creation and implementation.
