Big Deal Music
Big Deal Music is an American music publisher, founded in 2012 by former Chrysalis Music employees Kenny MacPherson, Jamie Cerreta and Dave Ayers. Headed by MacPherson, the trio is joined by principles Michael MacDonald, Pete Robinson and Casey Robison. In September 2020, Big Deal was acquired by Hipgnosis Songs Fund. The company, including its Words and Music publisher, was immediately renamed Hipgnosis Songs Group. MacPherson was named CEO of Hipgnosis Songs Group, with co-presidents Cerreta and Robison, executive vice president Ayers, and senior vice president Robinson signing new five year contracts with the publisher. The publisher's catalogue has earned 5 Grammy Awards, 126 NMPA, BMI and ASCAP awards, and 27 RIAA certifications. Chrysalis Music
Chrysalis Music is a British independent music publisher. The company's roots started in west London in 1967 when Chris Wright and Terry Ellis formed the Ellis-Wright Agency. It was formed to manage and book the bands Ten Years After, and Clouds, as well as other blues groups. Ten Years After was managed by Wright, while Clouds was managed by Ellis. In 1968, they made a deal with Island Records and very soon Chrysalis Records, an amalgam of Wright's first name and Ellis' last name, was founded. In the early 1970s the label had hits with rock groups such as Jethro Tull, Ten Years After, Procol Harum, etc, Racing Cars with the wonderful voice of Mal Pope, had a hit - "They Shoot Horses Don't They", Brian Protheroe with "Pinball Wizard". Peermusic is a United States-based independent music publisher. History Ralph Peer, a field recording engineer and A&R representative for Victor Records, went on a scouting trip to Bristol, Tennessee. For two weeks, he recorded artists such as Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family in what later became famous as the Bristol sessions. With the success of these recordings, Peer incorporated Southern Music Publishing Co., Inc., on January 31, 1928, which changed its name in 1994 to Peermusic. The company became very successful and influential in the 1930s. It hit the big time through Peer's introducing Southern American music to the world. In 1940 there came another watershed when a dispute between ASCAP and US radio stations led to the inauguration of the rival Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI). Matt Mahaffey
Matt Mahaffey (born June 9, 1973) is an American multi-instrumentalist, record producer, composer, and recording engineer best known for his band Self and his composer collective Cake In Space. Personal Mahaffey grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee and was involved with music from a young age. He started writing songs and playing the drums at age 4 and would often perform with his brother, Mike Mahaffey, when they were growing up.
