"Big Bad Mama" is a single by American rapper Foxy Brown (rapper), Foxy Brown and American contemporary R&B, R&B group Dru Hill from the How to Be a Player (soundtrack), soundtrack to the 1997 film, ''Def Jam's How to Be a Player, How to Be a Player''. The song also appeared on the European re-issue of Foxy Brown's debut album, ''Ill Na Na''. The song, which was produced by the Trackmasters and based on an interpolation of Carl Carlton's "She's a Bad Mama Jama", became a semi-successful hit, peaking at 53 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, Foxy's second highest charting single as a solo artist. The single was released with the then recently reunited EPMD's "Never Seen Before" as the B-side. Inga DeCarlo Fung Marchand (born September 6, 1978), better known by her stage name Foxy Brown, is an American rapper. After signing to Def Jam in 1996, she released her debut album, ''Ill Na Na'', later that year on November 19, 1996. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. She was also part of the hip hop supergroup the Firm, along with Nas, AZ and Cormega (who was later replaced by Nature). The Firm's sole album arrived in 1997 and was released by Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records. In 1999, her second album '' Chyna Doll'', debuted at the top of the ''Billboard'' 200, making her the second female rapper to top the chart after Lauryn Hill in 1998. Carl Carlton (born May 21, 1953) is an American R&B, soul, and funk singer-songwriter, best known for his hits "Everlasting Love" and " She's a Bad Mama Jama (She's Built, She's Stacked)". Career Carlton was born in Detroit, Michigan, and began his career in the mid-1960s as "Little Carl" Carlton. It was a marketing ploy to capitalize on some vocal similarities to Stevie Wonder, who recorded under the name "Little Stevie Wonder" in the early 1960s. His first recordings were for Lando Records, for which he recorded some minor local hits, including "So What" and "Don't You Need a Boy Like Me". In 1968, Don D. Robey signed Carlton to the Back Beat Record label, which Robey had started in 1957. Shortly after signing with the label, Carlton relocated to Houston, Texas, to be closer to his new label.
