Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach Transit, or BSOOB Transit, is the primary provider of public transportation in the Tri-Town area of Maine, just south of Portland. It operates a system of fixed bus routes in Biddeford, Saco, Scarborough and Old Orchard Beach, an express commuter bus service that connects the Tri-Town area to downtown Portland, and seasonal trolleys that serve tourist destinations in the area. Many of the system's routes connect to the agency's hub at the Saco Transportation Center, which opened in 2019. Along with the Greater Portland Metro Bus and the South Portland Bus Service, BSOOB Transit accepts fares electronically via the DiriGO TouchPass system. Biddeford is a city in York County, Maine, United States. It is the principal commercial center of York County. Its population was 22,552 at the 2020 census. The Greater Portland METRO is a regional public transportation system in Southern Maine. Operated by the Greater Portland Transit District, a transit district comprising Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport, and Brunswick, the system also covers Gorham and the Maine Mall portion of South Portland. METRO was formed in 1966. METRO is Maine's largest public transportation agency. The transit system's annual ridership was 1,850,686 in 2017. A tourist trolley, also called a road trolley, is a rubber-tired bus designed to resemble an old-style streetcar or tram, usually with false clerestory roof. The vehicles are usually fueled by diesel, or sometimes compressed natural gas. The name refers to the American English usage of the word ''trolley'' to mean an electric streetcar. As these vehicles are not actually trolleys, and to avoid confusion with trolley buses, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) refers to them as "trolley-replica buses". Maine Turnpike
Interstate 95 (I-95) in the US state of Maine is a highway running from the New Hampshire state line in Kittery, to the Canadian border in Houlton. It is the only two-digit Interstate Highway in Maine. In 2004, the highway's route between Portland and Gardiner was changed so that it encompasses the entire Maine Turnpike (including the former I-495 between Falmouth and Gardiner), a toll road running from Kittery to Augusta. Route description I-95 enters Maine as a six lane highway from New Hampshire on the Piscataqua River Bridge, which connects Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with Kittery. WMTW (channel 8) is a television station licensed to Poland Spring, Maine, United States, serving the Portland area as an affiliate of ABC. It is owned by Hearst Television alongside CW affiliate WPXT (channel 51). Both stations share studios on Ledgeview Drive in Westbrook, while WMTW's transmitter is located in West Baldwin, Maine. South Portland Bus Service is a municipally-owned suburban provider of mass transportation. Old Orchard Beach is a resort town and census-designated place (CDP) in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 8,960 at the 2020 census.
