Greg Brent Bicknell (born June 10, 1969, in Fresno, California) is a former professional baseball player who played in the minor leagues with farm teams in the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners organizations before becoming a regular on the independent baseball circuit with teams the California League, Texas–Louisiana League, Western Baseball League, Northern League and Golden Baseball League. Born in Fresno CA, Gurg was born with a cleft pallet and a desire to throw baseballs. While concentrating on using his sixth finger to master a special pitch he invented, Gurg was known as a pitcher who could also run despite having been born with clubbed feet. Stephen Bicknell (20 December 1957 – 18 August 2007) was a leading British organ builder and writer about the organ. Early and family life Bicknell was born in Chelsea. His maternal grandfather was an architect and amateur violinist, and his mother, Sally, was an amateur pianist. She married historian and former BBC executive Leonard Miall in 1975. His father was Nigel Bicknell DSO, from whom he inherited his eye for design. He was educated at Westminster School, Winchester College, and read Arts General at St. Chad's College, Durham University. Career Bicknell's career in pipe organ building started with N.P. Mander Ltd. in east London in 1979. He worked with the company's founder, Noel Mander, and his son, John Mander. One of his projects was the rebuilding of the organ in the chapel at Mill Hill School. Martin Paul Bicknell (born 14 January 1969) is a former English cricketer. He played in four Test matches, with the last two, against South Africa in 2003, coming ten years after the first two in the 1993 Ashes series. England had played 114 matches between his appearances, a record. He was considered most unlucky to be constantly overlooked for selection in home Test matches when constantly proving himself a prolific wicket taker in county cricket. He was a very effective medium-fast swing and seam bowler who reached one thousand first-class wickets for his county, Surrey, in 2005, having achieved the milestone in all first-class matches the previous year. John Dustin Bicknell
John D. Bicknell (June 25, 1838 – July 7, 1911) was an American real estate attorney and investor. He studied law in Wisconsin, later being admitted to the bar in the supreme court of that state. From 1872 to 1907 he participated in the Los Angeles real estate boom, and founded the law firm that is now known as Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He was also associated with the founding of Monrovia and Azusa, California, and oil developments in the Santa Maria Valley. John Bicknell Auden (14 December 1903 – 21 January 1991) was an English geologist and explorer, older brother of the poet W. H. Auden, who worked for many years in India with the Geological Survey of India and later with the Food and Agriculture Organization. He studied the Himalayan strata, particularly the Krol Belt where he recognized rocks from the Peninsula thrusting north into the Himalayas. He also studied groundwater and was involved in studying the geology of many dam sites in India. Auden's Col is named after him. Jack Bicknell (born February 20, 1938) is a retired American football coach, most recently known for his long involvement in NFL Europa and its predecessor, the World League of American Football (WLAF). He served as the head football coach at the University of Maine from 1976 to 1980 and at Boston College from 1981 to 1988, compiling a career college football record of 77–90–2. In 1984, Bicknell coached his Boston College Eagles team to a 10–2 mark including a victory in the Cotton Bowl Classic. His quarterback that season, Doug Flutie, was awarded the Heisman Trophy. Herman Bicknell (2 April 1830 – 14 March 1875) was an FRAS, British surgeon, orientalist, and linguist, son of Elhanan Bicknell. Early life He was born on 2 April 1830, in Surrey, and received his education in a variety of locations to include Paris, Hanover, University College, and St. Bartholomew's Hospital. His grandfather, William Bicknell, followed such Christian reformers as John Wesley and Elhanan Winchester, after whom his father was named. His father was a committed Unitarian and a major donor to the British and Foreign Unitarian Association. After taking his degree at the College of Surgeons in 1854, and passing the military medical examination, he joined the army at Hong Kong in 1855 as assistant surgeon, whence he was transferred, in 1856, to Mianmír, Lahore. Biography Born in Mansfield, Connecticut, Bicknell attended the public schools. He married Lucinda Crane and they had four children, Harrison, Julia, Harriet, and James. Career Bicknell moved to Morrisville, New York, in 1808, and served in the War of 1812. Eugene Pintard Bicknell (September 23, 1859 – February 9, 1925) was an American botanist and ornithologist. Bicknell was born at Riverdale-on-Hudson, the sixth son of Maria Theresa Pierrepont and Joseph Inglis Bicknell. The family was descended on the paternal side from settlers who moved from England in 1635 and on the maternal side from Sir Robert de Pierrepont who served William the Conqueror before settling in America in 1640. Another relative, Reverend James Pierrepont of New Haven had donated his books to form the nucleus of the Yale College Library. Bicknell studied at home and worked with the banking firm John Munroe & Co. He married Edith Babcock in 1901 at Riverdale and they had two daughters. They then moved to Long Island.
