Bickley Town
Bickley is a district and a local government electoral ward in South East London, within the London Borough of Bromley. It is located 10.4 miles (16.7 km) south east of Charing Cross, bordering Elmstead to the north, Chislehurst to the north-east and east, Petts Wood to the south-east, Southborough to the south, Bromley to the south-west and west and Widmore to the north-west. Until 1965 it was in the historic county of Kent. History The area's name is first recorded in 1279, the 'ley' or 'lea' referring to a forest clearing, and 'Bicca' either meaning a pointed ridge, or else a personal name. The area remained rural, save for a small hunting lodge belonging to the Wells family dating to 1759. The Lodge was gradually enlarged to become Bickley Hall, a classical house designed by Robert Mylne, FRS, for John Wells, shipbuilder, in 1780 (demolished 1963). Swanley Railway Station
Swanley railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the town of Swanley, Kent. It is down the line from and is situated between and on the main line. The Maidstone Line branches from the main line south of Swanley and the next station on that route is . The station and most trains that call are operated by Southeastern. Bullers Wood School for Boys is comprehensive boys’ free school which accepts pupils from ages 11 to 16. It is located on Chislehurst Road, in Bickley, part of the London Borough of Bromley. It is a member of the Bullers Wood Multi Academy Trust, along with Bullers Wood School. History Bullers Wood School for Boys opened in 2018, with the capacity for up to 900 new school places for boys to meet the growing demand in the area. Initial proposals for the school were rejected in January 2017, and although planning permission was granted that October, the council reversed their decision in January 2018 due to concerns on traffic. For the first few months after the school's opening, students were learning in a temporary facility nearby. Scadbury Park
Scadbury Park is a Local Nature Reserve in Chislehurst in the London Borough of Bromley. It is also a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. It is over , and is part of an extensive wildlife corridor together with Petts Wood and the Jubilee Country Park. It has large areas of ancient woodland, especially oaks, and flowers include lily of the valley, which is rare in London. Ponds have London's largest population of protected great crested newts. Much of it is undisturbed grassland, and it also includes a working farm. The main entrance is in Old Perry Street. The entrance piers still exist. London LOOP
The London Outer Orbital Path — more usually the "London LOOP" — is a 150-mile (242 km) signed walk along public footpaths, and through parks, woods and fields around the edge of Outer London, England, described as "the M25 for walkers". The walk begins at Erith on the south bank of the River Thames and passes clockwise through Crayford, Petts Wood, Coulsdon, Banstead, Ewell, Kingston upon Thames, Uxbridge, Elstree, Cockfosters, Chingford, Chigwell, Grange Hill and Upminster Bridge before ending at Purfleet, almost directly across the Thames from its starting point.
