Bible Mennonite Fellowship
The Bible Mennonite Fellowship (BMF) is a Mennonite confederation of churches founded in 1958. There are three churches in the conference; one in Brownsville, Oregon, one in Sheridan, Oregon, and one in Woodside, Montana. The large Fairview Mennonite Church in Albany, Oregon is unofficially affiliated with the group. A small congregation in Winston, Oregon is also affiliated with, but not formally a member of the group. BMF established missions in the Mexican states of Sonora and Zacatecas. This missionary work has been since been handed over to the Hopewell Mennonite Church. Mennonite
Mennonites are groups of Anabaptist Christian church communities of denominations. The name is derived from the founder of the movement, Menno Simons (1496–1561) of Friesland. Through his writings about Reformed Christianity during the Radical Reformation, Simons articulated and formalized the teachings of earlier Swiss founders, with the early teachings of the Mennonites founded on the belief in both the mission and ministry of Jesus, which the original Anabaptist followers held with great conviction, despite persecution by various Roman Catholic and Mainline Protestant states. Brownsville, Oregon
Brownsville is a city in Linn County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 1,694. It is the setting for the fictional town of Castle Rock, Oregon, in the 1986 film '' Stand by Me''. History Establishment Brownsville was originally known as "Calapooya" after the area's original inhabitants, the Kalapuya Indians, or "Kirk's Ferry", after the ferry operated across the Calapooia River by early settlers Alexander and Sarah Kirk. When Linn County was created from the southern portion of Champoeg County on December 28, 1847, the Provisional Legislature named Calapooia as the county seat. Sheridan, Oregon
Sheridan is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. Platted in the 1860s when it received a post office, the city was incorporated in 1880. A major fire burned much of the city in 1913, and a flood covered much of the city in 1964. The population of the city as of the 2020 Census was 6,100, a decrease from 6,127 at the 2010 census. Located in the western part of the Willamette Valley, the city is at the base of the Northern Oregon Coast Range along the South Yamhill River. Sheridan lies west of the county seat of McMinnville, along Oregon Route 18. This highway and Oregon Route 18 Business run east–west through Sheridan and nearby Willamina, parallel to the river. Albany is the county seat of Linn County, Oregon, and is the eleventh largest city in that state. Albany is located in the Willamette Valley at the confluence of the Calapooia River and the Willamette River in both Linn and Benton counties, just east of Corvallis and south of Salem. Winston, Oregon
Winston is a city in Douglas County, Oregon, United States, located 7 miles southwest of Roseburg. The population was 5,379 according to the 2010 United States Census. It is home to Wildlife Safari. History In 1920, Oregon Route 99 was completed, directly linking Winston with the nearby community of Dillard, which had previously been separated by the Umpqua River. In 1953, the city was incorporated under the name "Coos Junction". The first City Recorder (Gene Geyer) was employed. The following year, Paul Bender was appointed as the mayor of Coos Junction. The Johns Hopkins University Press (also referred to as JHU Press or JHUP) is the publishing division of Johns Hopkins University. Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online
The Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online (GAMEO) is an online encyclopedia of topics relating to Mennonites and Anabaptism. The mission of the project is to provide free, reliable, English-language information on Anabaptist-related topics. GAMEO was started in 1996 as the Canadian Mennonite Encyclopedia Online by the Mennonite Historical Society of Canada. In 2005 the project was renamed to its current title and the scope expanded with the additional partnership of the Mennonite Brethren Historical Commission and the Mennonite Church USA Archives.
