Bibek Bhowmik is a former Indian footballer who is currently the manager for ONGC in the I-League. Coaching career ONGC After ONGC F.C. won promotion to the I-League after finishing in 2nd place in the 2012 I-League 2nd Division final round Bhowmik took the helm at ONGC for the 2012-13 I-League. His first game as manager of ONGC was on 21 September 2012 during the 2012 Indian Federation Cup against Kalighat MS in which ONGC won 5–1. Bhowmik's ONGC however could not reach the semi-finals as they lost to East Bengal F.C. and ended with a victory over Sporting Goa. Sporting Clube de Goa, simply known as Sporting Goa (also known by its abbreviation SCG), is an Indian professional football club based in Panaji, in the Indian state of Goa, that competes in Goa Professional League. The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League. The competition was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. The 2012 Indian Federation Cup was the 34th season of the top knock-out competition in India. The qualifiers started in August while the Final Round took place from 19 September 2012 to 30 September 2012. Salgaocar were the defending champions, having beaten East Bengal 3–1 in the 2011 Final.
