Ruhpolding
Ruhpolding is the municipality with the biggest area of the Traunstein district in southeastern Bavaria, Germany. It is situated in the south of the Chiemgau region in the Alps and next to the Austrian border. Ruhpolding has a biathlon track. It hosted the 1979, 1985, 1996 and 2012 Biathlon World Championships. It also has a ski jumping hill, Große Zirmbergschanze, where one World Cup event has taken place, in the 1992–93 season. The economy is based on tourism and sports. In the year 2007 the Mountainbike 24h Race World Championships took place in the Chiemgau Arena. Other sports which are possible for tourists and residents are golf, mountainbiking, shooting, hiking, fly fishing and skiing. Nikolay Kruglov
Nikolay Konstantinovich Kruglov (russian: Никола́й Константи́нович Кругло́в; born 31 January 1950) is a former Soviet Union biathlete. At the 1976 Olympics in Innsbruck he won gold medals in the 20 km individual and with the men's relay team. He became world champion in the sprint event at the 1975 World Championships in Antholz. Vladimir Mikhaylovich Barnashov (russian: Владимир Михайлович Барнашов; born 26 February 1951) is a Soviet former biathlete. Life and career Barnashov was born in the village of Ryazany, Muromtsevsky District, Omsk Oblast He trained at Dynamo sports society and was a member of the USSR National Biathlon Team from 1977. At the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid he won a gold medal with the Soviet relay team. He was also a bronze medalist in the USSR 4 × 7.5 km relay team at the 1979, 1981 and 1982 Biathlon World Championships. In the overall World Cup he came third overall in the 1978–79 season behind Klaus Siebert and Frank Ullrich. He was a coach of the USSR National Biathlon Team between 1984 and 1992, training six Olympic Champions in biathlon and becoming the Honoured Trainer of the USSR in 1988. Vladimir Alexandrovich Alikin (russian: Влади́мир Алекса́ндрович Али́кин; born 10 May 1957) is a Soviet former biathlete. Life and career Alikin was born in the village of Dolgy Mot near the settlement of Novoilyinsky in the Nytvensky District of the Perm Oblast. He began cross-country skiing in 1969 at Children and Youth Sport School and biathlon - in 1977. From 1979 he trained at the Armed Forces sports society in Moscow. At the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, New York Alikin won a gold medal with the USSR relay team and he also won a silver medal in the sprint event. In the World Championships he has four medals: bronze in 10 km sprint in 1982, and three relay bronze medals in 1979, 1981, and 1982.
