Biathlon At The 1988 Winter Olympics – Sprint
The Men's 10 kilometre sprint biathlon competition at the 1988 Winter Olympics was held on 23 February, at Canmore Nordic Centre. Competitors raced over three loops of the skiing course, shooting two times, once prone and once standing. Each miss was penalized by requiring the competitor to race over a 150-metre penalty loop. Canmore Nordic Centre
Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park is a provincial park in Alberta, Canada, located immediately west of Canmore, west of Calgary. This provincial park is situated at the foot of Mount Rundle within the Canadian Rocky Mountains along Bow Valley and the Trans-Canada Highway, at an elevation of , and has a surface of . Mike Dixon (biathlete)
Michael Dixon (born 21 November 1962), is a Scottish cross-country skier and biathlete. He has represented Great Britain at six Olympic Games in cross-country skiing and biathlon. He is only the seventh athlete from any country to have competed at six Winter Games and is one of fewer than fifty athletes to have competed in at least six Olympic Games. He is a former Royal Engineer in the British Armed Forces, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant, and currently a Nordic skiing and biathlon coach. Eirik Kvalfoss (born 25 December 1959) is a Norwegian retired biathlete. Life and career He won three medals during the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo: gold in the 10 km sprint, silver in relay and bronze in the 20 km individual. In total Kvalfoss won 11 individual Olympic and World Championship medals between 1982–1991, as well as several relay medals. He was awarded ''Morgenbladets Gullmedalje'' in 1983. Jan Matouš (born 30 May 1961) is a former Czechoslovakian biathlete. At the 1987 World Championships in Lake Placid, New York. Matouš won a bronze medal in the 20 km individual. Andreas Zingerle
Andreas Zingerle (; born 25 November 1961) is an Italian former biathlete. At the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, Zingerle won a bronze medal in the relay. At the World Championships Zingerle accumulated one individual gold medal and three golds and a bronze in relay and team events. He has later become the head coach of Italian National Team. Under his tenure the Italians collected several medals at the Olympic Winter Games and World Championships, including Gold Medals by Dominik Windisch and Dorothea Wierer at the Biathlon World Championships 2019.
