Charles Bianconi
Charles Bianconi (24 September 1786 – 22 September 1875) was an Italo-Irish entrepreneur. Sometimes described as the "man who put Ireland on wheels", he developed a network of horse-drawn coaches that became Ireland's "first regular public transport" system. He eventually became known for his innovations in transport and was twice mayor of Clonmel, in County Tipperary. Early life Born Carlo Bianconi in Costa Masnaga, Italy on 24 September 1786, he moved from an area poised to fall to Napoleon and travelled to Ireland in 1802, via England, just four years after the 1798 rebellion. At the time, British fear of continental invasion resulted in an acute sense of insecurity and additional restrictions on the admission of foreigners. He was christened Carlo but anglicised his name to Charles when he arrived in Ireland in 1802. Niko Bianconi (born 10 October 1991) is an Italian footballer who plays as a forward for Varesina. Club career Born in Città di Castello, Umbria, Bianconi started his career at hometown club G.S.D. Madonna del Latte and then U.S. Tiferno Castello Calcio. (not to be confused with A.C. Franca Bianconi
Franca Anna Bianconi Manni (born 3 March 1962) is an Italian figure skating coach and former competitor. She competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics, but did not medal. Personal life Bianconi was born on 3 March 1962 in Milan, Italy. She is the mother of Italian ice dancer Victoria Manni. Career Bianconi began skating at age six in Milan. During her career, she was coached mainly by Franca Invernizzi in Milan and also spent time in Colorado training under Carlo Fassi and in Lake Placid under Tommy Litz. Bianconi debuted at the European and World Championships in 1977. She was selected to represent Italy at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York and finished 19th. Giovanni Ludovico Bianconi (1717 in Bologna – 1781 in Perugia), was an Italian doctor and antiquarian, a multi-facetted scholar who was mentor and correspondent of the connoisseur and early art historian, Johann Joachim Winckelmann. Giovanni Giuseppe Bianconi, sometimes J. Josephi or Joseph Bianconi, (31 July 1809 in Bologna – 18 October 1878 in Bologna) was an Italian zoologist, herpetologist, botanist and geologist. Career Bianconi was a Professor of Natural History at the University of Bologna. In the field of herpetology he described several new species of amphibians and reptiles. He created many engravings of antiquities. In Bologna, he worked with Mauro Tesi in designing a monument to their patron, Count Francesco Algarotti.
