Bhavan's College
Bhavan's College is a college located in Andheri West, a neighborhood in western Mumbai, India. It was established in 1946, a year before India gained independence from the British in 1947. K. M. Munshi was the founding president of the college. Bhavan's College is a part of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The college is built upon of land and has volleyball and basketball courts, football pitches, a botanical garden, a lake, a nature adventure centre, and a Lord Shiva temple within the campus. Andheri ( ™n̪d̪ʱeɾiË is a locality in the western part of the city of Mumbai in India. Udayanagari, the name of a hill near the Mahakali caves, inspired the name Andheri. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is an Indian educational trust. It was founded on 7 November 1938 by Dr K.M Munshi, with the support of Mahatma Gandhi. The trust programmes through its 119 centres in India, 7 centres abroad and 367 constituent institutions, cover "all aspects of life from the cradle to the grave and beyond – it fills a growing vacuum in modern life", as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru observed when he first visited the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1950.
