Bharathan
Bharathan (14 November 1946 – 30 July 1998) was an Indian film maker, artist, and art director. Bharathan is noted for being the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Padmarajan and K. G. George, in the 1980s, which created films that were widely received while also being critically acclaimed. A train of directors, and screenwriters followed this school onto the 1990s including Sibi Malayil, Kamal, Lohithadas and Jayaraj. Early life He was born at Enkakkad near Wadakkancherry, in present-day Thrissur district of Kerala, India. Padmarajan
P. Padmarajan (23 May 1945 – 23 January 1991) was an Indian film maker, screenwriter and author who was known for his works in Malayalam literature and Malayalam cinema. He was the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Bharathan and K. G. George, in the 1980s. Padmarajan was known for his detailed screenwriting and expressive direction style and made some of the landmark motion pictures in Malayalam cinema. He won the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award in 1972 for his novel ''Nakshathrangale Kaval''. He made his directorial debut in 1979 with '' Peruvazhiyambalam'' which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam. He won his second National Award in 1986 with '' Thinkalaazhcha Nalla Divasam''. Vaishali (film)
''Vaisali'' is a 1989 Indian Malayalam-language period drama film, directed and edited by Bharathan. Produced by M. M. Ramachandran and scripted by M. T. Vasudevan Nair, it was an adaptation of a sub-story told by Vedavyasa to King Yudhishtira in the epic ''Mahabharatha''. It is the story of Vaisali, a devadasi girl who was assigned the mission of seducing Rishyashrungan, the son of Mahirshi Vibhandakan and bringing him to Chambapuri to perform a mahayagam to bring rain. Plot Years ago, a certain Brahmin had visited the kingdom of Angarajyam. The king, Lomapadan (Babu Antony), failed to pay respects to the Brahmin. Prayanam (1975 Film)
''Prayanam'' ( The voyage) is a 1975 Indian Malayalam-language feature film written by Padmarajan and directed by Bharathan. It was the debut of both Padmarajan and Bharathan. The writer-director duo is often credited for revolutionising Malayalam cinema with their expressive and innovative works. ''Prayanam'' stars Mohan Sharma, Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair, Master Raghu, Lakshmi, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Nanditha Bose. It probes into the realities that existed within the Brahmin community of the day. Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair plays an elderly Brahmin priest married to a girl young enough to be his daughter. Sidharth Bharathan
Sidharth Bharathan (born 26 May 1983), is an Indian actor, screenwriter and film director who prominently works in Malayalam films. Career The son of director Bharathan and actress K. P. A. C. Lalitha, he began his film career through the Malayalam film '' Nammal'' (2002) as an actor. He made his directorial debut and played the lead role in '' Nidra'' (2012), it was a remake of the 1981 Malayalam film of the same name directed by his father. Ambazhathil Karunakaran Lohithadas (10 May 1955 – 28 June 2009) was an Indian screenwriter, playwright, film maker, and producer who worked in the Malayalam film industry. In a career spanning over two decades, his films have won a National Film Award, six Kerala State Film Awards, and fourteen Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Script. Thakara
''Thakara'' is a 1979 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Bharathan and written by Padmarajan. It stars Prathap Pothan, Surekha, Nedumudi Venu and K. G. Menon in pivotal roles.
