''Beyond the Wildwood – A Tribute to Syd Barrett'' is a tribute album consisting of music written by Pink Floyd's original guitarist, vocalist and primary songwriter Syd Barrett. The musicians performing on the album are British and American indie rock artists. The songs featured come from Pink Floyd's singles; the albums ''The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'' and '' A Saucerful of Secrets''; and Barrett's two solo albums: ''The Madcap Laughs'' and '' Barrett''. Paul Roland (born 6 September 1959) is an English singer-songwriter, author and music journalist. Death of Samantha is an American underground post-punk band from Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1983, the quartet debuted at a Ground Round family restaurant in Parma Heights. Death of Samantha played a farewell show on December 15, 1990, but later regrouped on December 23, 2012, with its original four-piece lineup: vocalist/guitarist John Petkovic, lead guitarist Doug Gillard, bassist David James and drummer Steven "Steve-O" Eierdam. The band was signed by Gerard Cosloy to the New York-based Homestead Records. The Chemistry Set are a psychedelic band from London, United Kingdom. Composed of former members of bands in the late 1980s neo-psychedelic scene, the group received regular airplay on John Peel's show and appeared on Tony Wilson's BBC2 show, ''100%''. Original career The original line up consisted of Ashley Wood (rhythm guitar/vocals), Paul Lake (lead guitar/vocals), Henry Taprell (bass) and Dave McLean (drums/vocals), with Neil Pond (Harmonica and percussion) joining them onstage and in the studio. "See Emily Play" is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd, released as their second single in June 1967. Written by original frontman Syd Barrett, it was released as a non-album single, but appeared as the opening track of the U.S. edition of the band's debut album ''The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'' (1967). The song was written by Barrett following the Games for May concert, and became a top 10 hit when released in the UK the following month. The group appeared three times on ''Top of the Pops'', where Barrett started showing signs of erratic behaviour, which ultimately led to him leaving the group in early 1968. Though Pink Floyd seldom performed the song live, it has been covered by a number of diverse artists and regarded as a classic psychedelic pop single. "Apples and Oranges" is the third UK single by Pink Floyd, the final one written by Syd Barrett, and released in 1967. The B-side was " Paint Box" written by Richard Wright. The song is about a girl whom the narrator meets at the supermarket. The song was recorded shortly before the band's US tour, on 26 and 27 October. TV performances Pink Floyd, along with Barrett, mimed the song on their first US televised performances on ''The Pat Boone Show'' and ''American Bandstand''. Barrett kept his lips closed during the first performance but mimed competently on the latter show, of which footage survives. After Barrett was replaced by David Gilmour, the band recorded a promotional film in Belgium in a fruit market with Roger Waters lip synching, as Barrett had left the band by this point. Baby Lemonade
"Baby Lemonade" is the opening track to Syd Barrett's second studio album, '' Barrett''. "Baby Lemonade", and another song, "Gigolo Aunt", were recorded by Barrett playing and singing over a prerecorded backing track. The solo was performed by Barrett, not David Gilmour as is often noted. The intro was actually Barrett simply warming-up on guitar, that Gilmour had managed to record and placed it at the start of the album, making it seem like an intro to the song. It was included on the multi-artist Harvest compilation, '' A Breath of Fresh Air – A Harvest Records Anthology 1969–1974'' in 2007.
