''Beyond the Lights'' is the original soundtrack to the 2014 film, ''Beyond the Lights''. It was released on November 10, 2014, through Relativity Music Group and consists of contemporary R&B and soul. The soundtrack includes songs performed by the film's fictional characters Noni (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Kid Culprit (Machine Gun Kelly), in addition to the Academy Award-nominated song, " Grateful", performed by Rita Ora and written by Diane Warren. The song subsequently also received a nomination at the 2015 Black Reel Awards. Amel Eliza Larrieux (née Stowell; born March 8, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter and keyboardist. Larrieux rose to fame in the mid-1990s as a founding member of the duo Groove Theory along with Bryce Wilson. "Shelter" is a song by English indie pop band The xx. It is the seventh track on their debut album, '' xx'', and the only track from it that was written and performed without former member Baria Qureshi. The song's lyrics were written by Romy Madley Croft, with the music written by her, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith, and the song being produced by the latter. In March 2022, a 2017 live remix of the song by Jamie xx was released. Composition The band recorded the song in February 2009, alongside the tracks "Fantasy" and "Infinity" before finishing the album by the end of the month.
