Bexhill High School
Bexhill High Academy (formerly Bexhill High School) is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Bexhill-on-Sea in the English county of East Sussex. Bexhill High converted to academy status in November 2012. It had been a community school administered by East Sussex County Council. The school continues to coordinate with East Sussex County Council for admissions. As an academy, the school was previously part of the Prospects Academies Trust. However, in May 2014 the trust folded. Bexhill High Academy is now part of the Attwood Academies trust. Along with Bexhill College the school operates Bexhill FM, a Restricted Service Licence FM frequency station which broadcasts for a few weeks a year to the Bexhill area. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Most academies are secondary schools, though slightly more than 25% of primary schools (4,363 as of December 2017) are academies. Academies are self-governing non-profit charitable trusts and may receive additional support from personal or corporate sponsors, either financially or in kind. Alexia Laurette Walker (born 26 November 1982) is an English former cricketer who played as an all-rounder. She was a right-handed batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler. Nils Norman (born 1966) is an artist living in London. He works across the disciplines of public art, architecture and urban planning. His projects challenge notions of the function of public art and the efficacy of mainstream urban planning and large-scale regeneration. Informed by local politics and ideas on alternative economic, ecological systems and play, Norman's work merges utopian alternatives with current urban design to create a humorous critique of the discrete histories and functions of public art and urban planning. Hayley Okines
Hayley Leanne Okines (3 December 1997 – 2 April 2015) was an English author and activist who was a sufferer of the extremely rare aging disease progeria. She was known for spreading awareness of the condition. Although the average life expectancy for sufferers is 13 years, Okines was part of a drug trial that had seen her surpass doctors' predictions of her projected lifespan. She died on 2 April 2015 at the age of 17, having lived four years beyond doctors' initial predictions. Okines was diagnosed with progeria at the age of two, and doctors put her projected lifespan at thirteen years. She frequently travelled to Boston in the United States to receive new treatments. In 2012, her autobiography, titled ''Old Before My Time'', was published; it was co-authored by Okines, her mother Kerry, and contributor Alison Stokes.
