Bevil Conway
Bevil Conway (born 4 November 1974, in Harare, Zimbabwe) is a neuroscientist and artist, and an expert in color. Conway specialises in visual perception in his scientific work, and he often explores the limitations of the visual system in his artwork. At Wellesley College, Conway was Knafel Assistant Professor of Natural Science from 2007 to 2011, and associate professor of Neuroscience until 2016. He was a founding member of the Neuroscience Department at ey. Prior to joining the Wellesley faculty, Conway helped establish the Kathmandu University Medical School in Nepal, where he taught as assistant professor in 2002–03. He currently runs the Sensation, Cognition and Action Unit in the Laboratory of Sensorimotor Research at the National Eye Institute and the National Institute of Mental Health. Bevil Oaks is a city in Jefferson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,274 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Beaumont– Port Arthur Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Bevil Oaks is located along the northern edge of Jefferson County at (30.151695, –94.268336). It is bordered to the north and west by Pine Island Bayou, which forms the Hardin County line. Texas State Highway 105 forms the southern boundary of the city; SH 105 leads west to Sour Lake and east to U.S. Route 96. Beaumont is southeast of Bevil Oaks via SH 105 and US 96. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city of Bevil Oaks has a total area of , of which , or 1.51%, are water. Sir Bevil Grenville's Monument
Sir Bevil Grenville's Monument is a monument erected in 1720 on Lansdown Hill, then called Lansdowne Hill, in Charlcombe parish about north-west of the city of Bath, in Somerset, England. It was designated a Grade II* listed structure in 1956, and a scheduled monument in 1950. The monument commemorates the heroism of the Civil War Royalist commander Sir Bevil Grenville (1596–1643) of Stowe, Kilkhampton in Cornwall and Bideford in Devon, who on 5 July 1643 fell mortally wounded at the Battle of Lansdowne, leading his regiment of Cornish pikemen. It was erected by Grenville's grandson and has been maintained by his descendants. This has included the repair of inscriptions carved on the base of the monument, eulogising Grenville and his forces. Louis Eugene Bevil (born ''Bevilacqua''; November 27, 1922 – February 1, 1973) was an American professional baseball player. Bevil was a right-handed pitcher and native of Nelson, Illinois, who appeared in four games in Major League Baseball in September of as a member of the Washington Senators. He was listed as tall and , and was an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame. Bevil's professional career began in 1940 and he was recalled to Washington after completing three minor-league seasons. At the age of 19, Bevil was the second-youngest player in the American League in 1942. In his debut, he was the starting pitcher against the Chicago White Sox on September 2 at Griffith Stadium. But he registered only one out, and permitted four runs on four hits and one base on balls before being relieved by Bill Zuber. Major-General Sir John Hugh Bevil Acland, KCB, CBE, DL (26 November 1928 – 17 November 2006) was a senior British Army officer. Early life Acland was born on 26 November 1928, the elder son of Peter Acland and Bridget Susan Acland (née Barnett). His younger brother Antony went on to become head of Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service and British Ambassador in Washington. He was educated at Eton College. William Bevil Thomas (1757–1825) was a prominent merchant, land developer and sea captain notable in the history of St. John's, Colony of Newfoundland, and in the history of Newfoundland and Labrador province. Thomas was born in St John's and came from a line of merchant mariners from Devon, England. Bevil Milton "Barney" Glover is the Vice-Chancellor and President of Western Sydney University. Personal life Glover was educated at Newcomb High School, Victoria. He later studied mathematics at the University of Melbourne, receiving a PhD in 1993.
