Beverley High School
Beverley High School is a girls' comprehensive school in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. According to government league tables for 2018, it was the highest performing secondary school in the East Riding of Yorkshire, with a Progress 8 score of "well above average". In 2021 the school was rated as "Outstanding” by Ofsted, and "Outstanding" in every category including 6th form Beverley High School shares a joint sixth form with Beverley Grammar School. History Beverley High School opened on 23 September 1908. The school celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2008. Some of the school buildings were constructed in 1875, as part of St Mary’s School, which became part of Beverley High School when it opened. Lindsey Katherine Chapman (born ) is an English television and radio presenter. Career Chapman, the daughter of a teacher and a rural developer, was educated at Lockington primary school and Beverley High School before studying Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham and later trained at Birmingham School of Acting. Growing up, she was a member of the Girl Guides. In August 2015 Chapman hosted ''Big Blue UK'', a series on UK marine wildlife, alongside Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for BBC One. Hilda Lyon
Hilda Margaret Lyon, MA, MSc, AFRAeS (31 May 1896 – 2 December 1946) was a British engineer who invented the "Lyon Shape", a streamlined design used for airships and submarines. Early life and education Lyon was born in 1896 in Market Weighton, Yorkshire. She was the youngest daughter of Thomas and Margaret Lyon (née Green); her father was a grocer. Hilda Lyon attended Beverley High School and then in 1915 went to Newnham College, Cambridge, from which she obtained a MA in mathematics. Susan Christina "Sue" Richardson (née Hearnshaw, formerly Telfer, born 26 May 1961) is a retired British athlete who competed mainly in the long jump. She won the 1984 Olympic bronze medal in the long jump, having won the European Indoor title a few months earlier. Her long jump best of 6.83 metres in 1984, ranks her eighth on the UK all-time list. Beverley Grammar School
Beverley Grammar School a boys’ day school secondary academy school in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. A school may have been founded here about 700 AD and on that basis the school is claimed to be the country's oldest grammar school and the eighth oldest school overall, but the existence of a school here is not continuous. The present school shares a joint Sixth form with Beverley High School. The school has received an 'Outstanding' in Ofsted inspections in 2006, 2008, and in 2010.
