Bevensen
Bevensen is a former ''Samtgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district of Uelzen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Its seat was in the town Bad Bevensen. At the 1 November 2011 local government reform, the ''Samtgemeinden'' Bevensen and Altes Amt Ebstorf merged to form the new ''Samtgemeinde'' Bevensen-Ebstorf. Geography Municipalities The Bevensen ''Samtgemeinde'' consisted of the following eight municipalities: The villages in the eight municipalities: Politics Municipal council After the local elections of 10 September 2006 the municipal council was made up as follows: * CDU: 13 seats * SPD: 11 seats * Greens: 3 seats * Bad Bevensen independents: 3 seats * FDP: 2 Sitze The mayor also had a seat and a vote. Bad Bevensen
Bad Bevensen (West Low German: ''Bemsen'') is a town in the north of the district Uelzen in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated to the east of the Lüneburg Heath (''Lüneburger Heide''). The Ilmenau river, a tributary of the Elbe, flows through Bad Bevensen. Bad Bevensen is a well-known spa town. Bad Bevensen is the seat of the ''Samtgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") Bevensen-Ebstorf. Incorporated into the municipality are the villages of Gollern, Groß Hesebeck, Jastorf, Klein Bünstorf, Klein Hesebeck, Medingen, Röbbel, Sasendorf and Seedorf. Jastorf is situated some south of the town center. It is the site of an Iron Age cemetery which gave the name of the Jastorf culture. In the run-up to the G20 summit in 2017, left-wing extremists set a fire in the town.

Uelzen (district)
Uelzen () is a district (''Landkreis'') in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Gifhorn, Celle, Heidekreis, Lüneburg and Lüchow-Dannenberg, and by the state of Saxony-Anhalt (district of Altmarkkreis Salzwedel). The county capital is the town of Uelzen. History From the Middle Ages on the region was part of the duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg and its successor states. Geography The district comprises the eastern part of the Lüneburg Heath (''Lüneburger Heide''). The Ilmenau river has its source in the district. From here it runs northwards to the town of Lüneburg. Josef Oberhauser
Josef Oberhauser (21 January 1915 – 22 November 1979) was a low-ranking German SS commander during the Nazi era. He participated in Action T4 and Operation Reinhard. Oberhauser was the only person to be successfully convicted of crimes committed at the Belzec extermination camp. He was charged with 450,000 counts of accessory to murder and sentenced to 4.5 years imprisonment during the Belzec Trial of 1964.Sentence by the First Munich District Court (Belzec-Prozess - Urteil, ''LG München I'')
