Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke ( , ; ; born September 26, 1972) is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 2013 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, O'Rourke was the party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2018, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, and was the Democratic nominee for the 2022 Texas gubernatorial election. O'Rourke was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas, and is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and Columbia University. António Alberto Bastos Pimparel (born 1 May 1982), known as Beto, is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Luis Alberto Cuevas Olmedo (born September 12, 1967), better known as Beto Cuevas (), is a Chilean-Canadian singer, song writer, plastic artist, painter, and actor. He is the lead singer for the Chilean band La Ley. In 2008 he launched his solo career with the release of his album, ''Miedo Escénico''. Alberto "Beto" Pérez (born 15 March 1970), is a Colombian dancer, choreographer, businessman, and Zumba instructor. He created the exercise fitness program Zumba in the late 1990s which involves dance and aerobic exercise elements with accompanying music, specifically Latin, and associated martial arts moves, squats, lunges, and other aerobic techniques. He has written 14 full-length plays which been produced in major cities including New York City, Austin, San Antonio, and Los Angeles.
