Bethel Chapel Guildford
Bethel Chapel, The Bars, Guildford, is an independent reformed Baptist church located in the heart of the historic town of Guildford. The Church was established in 1879 and the present building opened in 1910. Bethel Church (Jacksonville, Florida)
The Bethel Church (formerly Bethel Baptist Institutional Church) is a historically-black Baptist megachurch in Jacksonville, Florida, in the United States. Founded in 1838, it is the city's oldest Baptist congregation. The attendance is 12,000 members. The senior pastor is Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick Jr. The historic church building is on the National Register of Historic Places. History Established under co-pastors James McDonald and Ryan Frier, in 1838, Bethel Baptist is the oldest Baptist congregation in Jacksonville. At its inception it had only six charter members, four whites and two blacks, the latter of whom were held as slaves by white members. The first meetings were held at "Mother Sam's", a local plantation. Membership quickly grew, with most early congregants being enslaved African Americans who received day passes from their masters to attend services. Bethel Baptist Church (Houston, Texas)
Bethel Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church building at 801 Andrews in the Fourth Ward, Houston, Texas. The Late Gothic Revival building was constructed in 1923 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. History The original Bethel Church building was constructed in 1889 as a haven for former slaves and was entirely constructed of wood. Built by the Reverend Jack Yates, the plot was located in Houston's Freedmantown district. The original structure was destroyed in the Great Storm of 1900. Between 1900 and 1920, a second church structure was erected on top of the remains but it too was later destroyed. Twenty three years later, the church was reconstructed for a third and final time. In 1997, the last church service was held in the building after which it was abandoned. Bethel Baptist Church, also known as First Baptist Church, Gresham Pioneer Church and Old First Baptist Church, was a church building located in Gresham, Oregon listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built by Peter Engles in 1886, the church displayed Gothic Revival architecture and was constructed of brick and weatherboard. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Bethel Baptist Chapel, Llanelli
Bethel Baptist Chapel is a Baptist chapel in the town of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It was built in 1840 and is located on Copperworks Road. It had a larger seating capacity than most Llanelli chapels and in 1905 could seat 850 persons. The chapel Bethel Baptist Chapel was the first of a series of Baptist churches erected in Llanelli in the mid nineteenth century. This was a time when Llanelli became a significant regional producer of tinplate and steel and the population was growing strongly. The chapel has a large stuccoed temple-like facade with giant pilasters and a porch with columns and a balustrade. The windows had Florentine tracery. The pulpit was very ornate and had a pedimented back, and the gallery fronts were clad in cast iron panels. The chapel has a larger seating capacity compared to other Llanelli chapels, being able to seat 850 persons in 1905, and the Sunday School was also large, catering for 300 children.
