Beth Orton
Elizabeth Caroline Orton (born 14 December 1970) is an English musician, known for her "folktronica" sound, which mixes elements of folk and electronica. She was initially recognised for her collaborations with William Orbit, Andrew Weatherall, Red Snapper and the Chemical Brothers in the mid-1990s. Her UK/US first solo album, ''Trailer Park'', received much critical acclaim in 1996. Orton developed a devoted audience with the release of the BRIT Award-winning album ''Central Reservation'' (1999) and the 2002 UK top 10 album, '' Daybreaker''. Her 2006 album, ''Comfort of Strangers'', was followed by a break during which Orton gave birth to her daughter and collaborated with the British guitarist Bert Jansch. CMJ New Music Monthly
CMJ Holdings Corp. is a music events and online media company, originally founded in 1978, which ran a website, hosted an annual festival in New York City, and published two magazines, ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' and ''CMJ New Music Report''. The company folded around 2017, but was bought by Amazing Radio in 2019 who will bring back the CMJ Music Marathon in New York, along with other new live and live-streamed offerings. Red Snapper (band)
Red Snapper are a British instrumental band founded in London in 1993 by Ali Friend (double bass), Richard Thair (drums), and David Ayers (guitar). The three core members are also joined by various guest musicians and vocalists on different records. Since the 2007 reunion Tom Challenger (saxophone) has also been a member of the band. According to music journalist Jason Ankeny of AllMusic, "the British acid jazz trio renotable for their pioneering synthesis of acoustic instruments and electronic textures". Career The band released three EPs on Flaw Recordings before signing to Warp Records for their debut album, ''Prince Blimey'' (1996). ''Kidsticks'' is the sixth studio album by English singer-songwriter Beth Orton. The album was produced by Orton alongside Andrew Hung from the band Fuck Buttons, who provided drum and synth programming. Bert Jansch
Herbert Jansch (3 November 1943 – 5 October 2011) was a Scottish folk musician and founding member of the band Pentangle. He was born in Glasgow and came to prominence in London in the 1960s as an acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter. He recorded more than 28 albums and toured extensively from the 1960s to the 21st century. Jansch was a leading figure in the 1960s British folk revival, touring folk clubs and recording several solo albums, as well as collaborating with other musicians such as John Renbourn and Anne Briggs. In 1968, he co-founded the band Pentangle, touring and recording with them until their break-up in 1972. He then took a few years' break from music, returning in the late 1970s to work on a series of projects with other musicians. The album featured contributions from folk musician Terry Callier (with whom she also recorded the b-side "Lean on Me"), Dr. Robert and Ben Harper. Several tracks were also produced by Ben Watt of Everything but the Girl.
