Beth Carey
Beth Carey (born ) is an Australian female volleyball player. She is part of the Australia women's national volleyball team and is the current Captain. She participated in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix. On club level she played for South Australia in 2014 and VfB Suhl in 2016. She played for the Cignal HD Spikers in the Philippines in 2017. Australia Women's National Volleyball Team
The Australia women's national volleyball team, also known as Volleyball Team Australia Women (VTAW) or the Volleyroos, is the national volleyball team of the volleyball playing nation of Australia. As of January 2021, they are ranked 40th in the world. They are a member of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC). The Australian Women’s program maintained during the 1990s ranked 6th in the Asian zone, due in part to the strong nature of women’s volleyball in Asia, with teams like China, Japan and Korea ranked in the world at the time in the top 8. With the support of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), they achieved 9th place in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Following this the Volleyroos achieved its highest-ever world ranking of 14th. They then achieved a 6th-place finish at the 2001 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, 2001 Asian Championships, and qualified for a second World Championships. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix
The 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 22nd edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 countries from 25 July to 24 August 2014. The Group 1 final round was held in Tokyo, Japan. The Brazilian star team won the tournament for the tenth time, the second consecutive victory. Qualification *No qualification tournament. *28 teams are invited.
