The Bessemer Civic Center is a performing arts and convention center located in Bessemer, Alabama, a Birmingham suburb. The Civic Center's main hall features of main space. Bessemer, Colorado was a city in Colorado that was incorporated in 1886. The community was named after Henry Bessemer, an English inventor. It was one of four adjacent towns settled after the Colorado Gold Rush of 1859. The communities of South Pueblo, Central Pueblo, Pueblo, and Bessemer were later merged to create the modern City of Pueblo, Colorado. David Stout (May 13, 1942 – February 11, 2020) was a journalist and author of mystery novels, two of which have been turned into TV movies, and of non-fiction about violent crime. For his first novel, ''Carolina Skeletons'', he won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel. Career as journalist Stout obtained a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1964, and a master's in English literature from Buffalo State College in 1970.
