Alain-Edgard Berton (1912–1979) was a French chemical engineer who specialized in toxicology and in the analysis of air components in industrial environments. In the late 1950s he invented the "Osmopile", a measuring device, dubbed "the first artificial nose," which initiated, through the use of highly sensitive galvanic cells, the electrochemical analysis of air to detect dangerous components. Sean Berton (born October 31, 1979) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League. He was undrafted in the 2003 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State University. The Minnesota Vikings signed him to a 3-year minimum rookie contract in 2003, but he was released on September 3, 2005. The New York Giants claimed him off of waivers where he finished out his rookie contract before being released on May 23, 2006. Clarence Berton Roueché, Jr. ( ; April 16, 1910 – April 28, 1994) was an American medical writer who wrote for ''The New Yorker'' magazine for almost fifty years. He also wrote twenty books, including '' Eleven Blue Men'' (1954), ''The Incurable Wound'' (1958), ''Feral'' (1974), and ''The Medical Detectives'' (1980). After his family moved to New York City, he graduated from high school there, studied law at night, and was a weekly participant in the William J. Florence Dramatic Society in Jersey City. Berton Braley (29 January 1882 – 23 January 1966) was an American poet. His best-known poem is "The Will to Win", written in a motivational tone. Life and work Braley was born in Madison, Wisconsin. His father, Arthur B. Braley, was a judge; he died when Berton Braley was seven years old. At 16, Braley quit high school and got a job working as a factory hand at a plow plant. Berton Leslie Averre (born December 13, 1953) is an American guitarist. He was the lead guitarist and one of the founders of the band The Knack. That group had a No. 6 UK / No. 1 US hit with "My Sharona", which sold 10 million copies in the US. Averre is also a vocal arranger, and has toured with Robby Krieger, Bette Midler, The Cowsills and Sarah Brightman. In the 1990s, he turned his creative energies towards the theater and developed a screenplay with Tom Schulman, screenwriter of ''Dead Poets Society'' and ''What About Bob?''. Vic Berton
Vic Berton (born Victor Cohen; May 7, 1896 – December 26, 1951) was an American jazz drummer. Berton was born, Victor Cohen, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. His father was a violinist and began his son on string instruments around age five. He was hired as a percussionist at the Alhambra Theater in Milwaukee in 1903 when he was only seven years old. By age 16, he was playing with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. While serving in World War I he played drums for John Philip Sousa's Navy band. Early in the 1920s, Berton played in Chicago bands, including those of Art Kahn, Paul Beise, and Arnold Johnson. He led his own ensemble as well, which played at the Merry Gardens club. In 1924, he became the manager of The Wolverines, and occasionally played alongside Bix Beiderbecke in the ensemble.
