Albert Martin was a Scottish sailor and Olympic champion. He competed for the Royal Clyde Yacht Club at the 1908 Summer Olympics at Hunters Quay, and won a gold medal in the 12 metre class. Albert Martin (January 6, 1808 March 6, 1836) was a Texian merchant and captain of the Gonzales Mounted Rangers who delivered William B. Travis' letter "To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World" and died while defending the Alamo garrison. He is a member of the Old Eighteen and Immortal 32. Early life and career Martin was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Joseph S. Martin, a merchant, and Abbey B. Martin. Martin's parents were fourth cousins, and both of their fathers both fought in the Revolutionary War. Albert Martin attended Vermont's Norwich University, which was then known as the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy. Albert Lee Martin (born November 24, 1967) is a former professional baseball left fielder. He played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, mostly for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also played one season in the KBO League. Early life Martin graduated from John A. Rowland High School in Rowland Heights, California, in 1985. Professional career Martin played for four teams in the majors: the Pittsburgh Pirates (1992–99), the San Diego Padres (2000), the Seattle Mariners (2000–01), and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2003).
