Bert Eckhoff
Albertus "Bert" John Eckhoff (18 October 1901 – 9 December 1967) was a professional New Zealand rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s. He played at representative level for New Zealand ( Heritage № 200), South Island and Otago, as a , or , i.e. number 8 or 10, or 9, during the era of contested scrums. Rugby career Bert Eckhoff began his career playing club rugby for the Zingari-Richmond club in Otago in 1922. He made 5 appearances for the Otago B side that same season. He was listed in the reserves to play Auckland for the full Otago side but did not take the field. In 1923 he was in the reserves to play for Otago in further matches and made his debut coming on for an injured player in their match with Auckland on 1 September. He then also played against North Otago a month later. In 1924 while playing a club match for Zingari-Richmond against Alhambra on June 21 he was alleged to have kicked an opponent in the chest as he lay on the ground following a scrum. A leng ... Great Britain National Rugby League Team
The Great Britain national rugby league team represents Great Britain in rugby league. Administered by the Rugby Football League (RFL), the team is nicknamed The Lions. For most of the 20th century, the Great Britain team toured overseas, played against foreign touring teams and competed in the Rugby League World Cup, which they won three times: in 1954, 1960 and 1972. Since 1995, the RFL has sent separate home nations teams to the World Cup. Great Britain continued to compete as a Test playing nation both home and away. North Otago Rugby Football Union
The North Otago Rugby Football Union (NORFU) is a New Zealand rugby union province based in Oamaru and compete in the Heartland Championship. They are one of the strongest teams in The Heartland Championship, winning the Meads Cup section of the competition in its second year, 2007 as well as 2010. Their home ground is Whitestone Contracting Stadium, formerly Centennial Park. The North Otago Rugby Football Union was founded in 1927 and over the years they have had many highs and lows. In 1930 they hosted the All Blacks before the first test against the British and Irish Lions, In 1962 they hosted and beat Australia during their tour of New Zealand.
