Bert Anthony Adams (October 23, 1916 – February 3, 2003) was a decorated war veteran who served from 1956 to 1968 as a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from Leesville in Vernon Parish in western Louisiana. Biography Born in DeRidder in Beauregard Parish, Adams was a decorated United States Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. The Louisiana House of Representatives (french: link=no, Chambre des Représentants de Louisiane) is the lower house in the Louisiana State Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Louisiana. This chamber is composed of 105 representatives, each of whom represents approximately 42,500 people (2000 figures). Members serve four-year terms with a term limit of three terms (twelve years). The House is one of the five state legislative lower houses that has a four-year term, as opposed to the near-universal two-year term. The House convenes at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Beauregard Parish (french: Paroisse de Beauregard) is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 35,654. The parish seat is DeRidder. The parish was formed on January 1, 1913. Beauregard Parish comprises the DeRidder, LA Micropolitan Statistical Area. The governing body is by the police jury system. Anthony Claude Leach Jr., known as Buddy Leach (March 30, 1934 – August 6, 2022), was an American businessman, lawyer, military veteran, and Democratic politician from Louisiana. From 1979 to 1981, he served one term as a U.S. representative for Louisiana's 4th congressional district. He also served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives and as chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. In 2003, Leach was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Louisiana in an election won by Kathleen Blanco. Early life, education, and career Leach was born in Leesville in Vernon Parish in western Louisiana. He graduated from Leesville High School in 1951. In that same year, Leach entered Louisiana State University, from which he earned his Bachelor of Science. In 1954, Leach was diagnosed with polio.
