Coppa Bernocchi
The Coppa Bernocchi is a European bicycle race held in Legnano, Italy. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. In 1919 the business magnate Antonio Bernocchi founded the Coppa Bernocchi (or Bernocchi Cup), with his brothers Andrea and Michele Bernocchi in Legnano, and give the executive organization of the race to the family friend Pino Cozzi, President of the "Unione Sportiva Legnanese", sports club which has since organized the cycling race, which used the prestige of the Bernocchi brand license, already known all over the world, to publicize the race that will become one of the most prestigious in Europe. Antonio Bernocchi
Antonio Bernocchi (17 January 1859 – 8 December 1930) was an Italian industrialist, who built up a successful textile factory at Legnano, in Lombardy. Life Bernocchi was born on 17 January 1859 at Castellanza in the province of Varese, in Lombardy in northern Italy. He was one of three sons of Rodolfo Bernocchi and Angela Colombo. Bernocchi attended the Scuola Tecnica of Busto Arsizio, but did not complete his education. By the age of fifteen he was working for his father in a small textile bleaching works at Legnano. In 1898 the family started a textile business at Legnano, which was successful and grew substantially. Factories were opened at Nerviano, Cerro Maggiore and Angera. Bernocchi became ''sindaco'' (mayor) of Legnano. In 1929 he was made a Grande Ufficiale ("grand officer") of the Order of the Crown of Italy. Piero Bernocchi
Piero Bernocchi (13 September 1947) is an Italian teacher, trade union officer and politician. He was a principal founder of COBAS, a workerist organization. Biography Piero Bernocchi was born 13 September 1947, in Foligno. He participated as a protagonist in the Italian social movements of the 1960s and the 1970s, since the 1968 movement in which he was part of the Coordination team of the Departments of Science, of the Workers' Committee and as leader of the movement at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rome. Among the main representatives of the Movement of 1977, he was the director of a radio station Radio Città Futura, the first free Italian radio, which was the voice of the Italian movement between 1979 and 1985. He is a representative of the 'alternative' trade unionism in Italy, although his activity goes beyond trade unionism.
