Berni Collas
Bernard "Berni" Collas (27 April 1954 – 16 September 2010) was a Belgian German-speaking politician and member of the liberal Party for Freedom and Progress (german: Partei für Freiheit und Fortschritt). He was married and had three children. Berni Collas was a member of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community from 1990 to 2003, and from 22 January 2004 till his death he was the Community Senator appointed by the Parliament of the German-speaking Community. In the Senate he served as a member of the MR fraction because the PFF is a constituent part of the MR. He was re-appointed as the German-speaking Community Senator following the 2007 federal election. He headed the local chapter of the PFF in Büllingen from 1985 to 1990 and was the floor leader of the PFF fraction in the Parliament of the German-speaking Community from 1990 to 1999. Belgian Senate
The Senate ( nl, Senaat, ; french: Sénat, ; german: Senat) is one of the two chambers of the bicameral Federal Parliament of Belgium, the other being the Chamber of Representatives. It is considered to be the "upper house" of the Federal Parliament. Created in 1831 as a chamber fully equal to the Chamber of Representatives, it has undergone several reforms in the past, most notably in 1993 and 2014. The 2014 elections were the first without a direct election of senators. Instead, the new Senate is composed of members of community and regional parliaments and co-opted members. Didier Reynders
Didier Reynders (; born 6 August 1958) is a Belgian politician and a member of the Mouvement Réformateur (MR) serving as European Commissioner for Justice since 2019. He held various positions in public institutions before becoming a member of the House in 1992. He was a minister without interruption from 1999 to 2019, until resigning to become Belgian European Commissioner. He served as Federal Minister of Finance until December 2011 in six different governments, then Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade Foreign Affairs and European Affairs in two governments. Following the government crisis of December 2018, he was also appointed to the post of Minister of Defense until November 2019. Louis Michel
Louis Michel (born 2 September 1947) is a Belgian politician. He served in the government of Belgium as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2004 and was European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid from 2004 to 2009. From 2009 to 2019, he was a Member of the European Parliament. Michel is a prominent member of the French-speaking liberal party, the ''Mouvement Réformateur''. Waimes
Waimes (; german: Weismes, ; wa, Waime) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Waimes had a total population of 6,728. The total area is 96.93 km2 which gives a population density of 69 inhabitants per km2. Waimes is one of two mostly French-speaking municipalities in the East Cantons, the other being Malmedy. German as a minority language is also still widely spoken in Waimes to this day. The other surrounding municipalities in the area are part of the main German-speaking Community of Belgium.
