Agnès Bernet
Agnès Bernet, (born 1968) is a French cell biologist and professor of cancer biology at the University Claude Bernard Lyon I. A co-founder of NETRIS Pharma, she has led within the Laboratory of Apoptosis, Cancer and Development, the research team that validated the use of interference ligand/dependence receptors as novel targeted therapies for cancer. Life and work Bernet earned her PhD at University Claude Bernard Lyon I in 1994 with the thesis ''Etude, par recombinaison homologue, de régions régulatrices de l'expression des gènes de globine alpha humains (Study, by homologous recombination, of regulatory regions of the expression of human alpha globin genes). Edward Nelson Bernet (born October 24, 1933) is a former American football wide receiver and a country singer. He played college football at Southern Methodist University, and played professionally for the National Football League (NFL)'s Pittsburgh Steelers in 1955, then returned to his hometown in 1960 to play for the American Football League (AFL)'s Dallas Texans. John Joseph Bernet (February 9, 1868 – July 5, 1935) was president of the Nickel Plate Road, Erie Railroad, Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and Pere Marquette Railroad in the United States. He was known for bringing railroad companies back from bankruptcy to solvency, earning him the nickname "Doctor of Sick Railroads". Youth and education Bernet was born in Brant, New York, on February 9, 1868, to Bernard and Emma Greene Bernet. John's father, Bernard, had emigrated from Switzerland and had taken up the blacksmithing trade. After a public school education, John entered an apprenticeship at his father's blacksmith shop, but John was not able to perform the craft as well as his father had hoped. Jordi Bernet Cussó (born 14 June 1944) is a Spanish comics artist, best known for the gangster comics series ''Torpedo'' and for American weird western comic book ''Jonah Hex''. Career He was born in Barcelona, the son of a Spanish comic book artist, Miguel Bernet. He made his debut in comics at fifteen, continuing his father's humorous series ''Doña Urraca'' (''Mrs. Magpie'') after his death in 1960, under the pseudonym "Jordi". While this could support his family, it did not satisfy his artistic ambitions that were inspired by artists such as Hal Foster, Alex Raymond and Milton Caniff. From 1962, Bernet developed a more realistic style, and took on smaller assignments from Italian and British publishers, until he started illustrating for the Franco-Belgian comics magazine '' Spirou'' in 1965.
