Berneck Castle
Berneck Castle is a 13th-century castle in Kauns, Austria. Location Berneck Castle is located near Kauns, on the opposite side of the Inn valley from Laudegg Castle, and in the Kaunertal valley. The castle sits on top of a large rock close to the river Faggenbach. Location and function The castle stands east of the end of the village of Kauns at 1,076 meters above sea level. To the south it is built directly on a rock face that drops 130 meters deep into the valley of the Faggenbach . In the west, a steep slope descends into the Kaunertal . In the north and east, the castle is only separated from the surrounding area by a slightly elevated position on a hill. The castle is of little strategic importance. It was most likely built to secure the traffic route over the Piller . On the opposite side of the Inn Valley , Laudegg Castle is within sight . Owner The beginnings of the castle are in the dark. Laudegg Castle
Burg Laudegg is a restored castle ruin near the three villages of Ladis, Serfaus, and Fiss, Bezirk Landeck, in the state of Tyrol, Austria. Across the Oberinntal valley lies Castle Berneck at Kauns. Location Laudegg Castle stands at the foot of the Samnaun Alps and sits on vertical protrusion of slate above Oberinntal valley at an elevation of above sea level. History The tower house was built in the Early middle ages and is first documented in 1239. Kaunertal
The Kaunertal is a municipality and alpine valley in the Landeck district in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The municipality is located about southeast of Landeck at the upper course of the Inn river. The Kaunertal valley is 28 km (17 mi) in length and runs southeast from the town of Prutz (884 m) to the Kaunertal Glacier. The valley is traversed by the Faggenbach river, which rises south of the Weißseespitze mountain (3044 m) and flows into the Inn river at Prutz (884 m), the site of a hydroelectric power station. The Gepatsch Reservoir (''Gepatsch Stausee''), which is located on the upper course of the Fagge river, is in length, has a capacity of 138,000,000 m3, and is formed by a rockfill dam that is long and high. The dam was constructed in 1961. Water from the lake is used to generate electricity through a pipe system in length, located at the south end of the Kaunertal.
