Bernardo José Piñango Figuera (born February 9, 1960) is a Venezuelan former professional boxer who competed from 1981 to 1990. He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBA and ''The Ring'' bantamweight titles from 1986 to 1987 and the WBA super bantamweight title in 1988. As an amateur boxer, he won a silver medal in the bantamweight division (-54 kg) at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. In the final he lost to Cuba's Juan Hernández on points (0-5). Jose 'Gaby' Canizales (born May 1, 1960) is an American former professional boxer who won the Lineal championship in the bantamweight division. Early life Canizales was born in Laredo in Webb County, Texas. Pro career Canizales turned pro in 1979 and in 1983 challenged Jeff Chandler for the World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight title but lost a decision. In 1986 he landed a shot at Richie Sandoval for the Lineal and WBA bantamweight title. Canizales dominated, and knocked Sandoval down once in the 1st, once in the 5º, and three times in the 7th round, winning via a 7th-round knockout. He lost the belt in his first defense to Bernardo Pinango via decision. In 1990, he challenged Raúl Pérez for the World Boxing Council bantamweight title but lost a decision. Julio Antonio Gervacio (born 1967) is a former boxer and world Super Bantamweight champion from the Dominican Republic. As a child, he relocated to Puerto Rico. He always expressed pride in his national background; and he considered himself a Dominican-Puerto Rican. Juan José Estrada (November 28, 1963 – June 21, 2015) was a Mexican professional boxer in the Super Bantamweight division. He was the WBA Super Bantamweight Champion. Professional career In December 1987, Estrada won the WBC International title by stopping veteran Raul Payo Valdez in the tenth round. WBA Super Bantamweight Championship On May 28, 1988, Estrada won the WBA Super Bantamweight title by upsetting Bernardo Piñango over twelve rounds. Troy Glenn Dorsey (born November 19, 1962) is a former U.S. boxer and kickboxer who competed in the bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight divisions. Known predominantly for his physical endurance and power, Dorsey began his martial arts training in karate and taekwondo at the age of ten before later making the switch to full contact kickboxing. He was a three-time kickboxing world champion as well as a gold medalist of the WAKO Amateur World Championships in both 1985 (London) and 1987 (Munich).
