Bernard P. Bell
Bernard Pious Bell (December 29, 1911 – January 8, 1971) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in World War II. Biography Born at Grantsville, West Virginia, Bell entered the Army from New York City in August 1942. He earned the Medal of Honor while serving with Company I, 142nd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division at Mittelwihr, France on December 18, 1944. He left the Army on June 19, 1945, with the rank of warrant officer. He died on January 8, 1971, after accidentally choking to death while eating, and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The United States Army Center of Military History (CMH) is a directorate within the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. The Institute of Heraldry remains within the Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army.
