Brigadier Bernard Turing Vionnée 'Bun' Cowey Distinguished Service Order, DSO, Order of the British Empire, OBE (20 November 1911 – 20 August 1997) was an England, English rugby union wing who played club rugby for Newport RFC, Newport and international rugby for Wales national rugby union team, Wales. Unlike most rugby internationals, Cowey was most associated with the Army Rugby Union rather than club or county rugby. Rugby career

Cowey was born in Tidworth, Wiltshire in 1911 but when he joined the British Armed Forces, he was posted in the Welch Regiment, traditionally the reserve of Wales, Welsh nationals. He played rugby while on duty, for his regiment and later played for the Army's own rugby team. Outside the army, ...

Tidworth
Tidworth is a garrison town and civil parish in south-east Wiltshire, England, on the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain. Lying on both sides of the A338 about north of the A303 primary route, the town is approximately west of Andover, south of Marlborough, and north by north-east of Salisbury. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was approximately 10,600. Originally two villages – North Tidworth and South Tidworth – the modern town is dominated by Tidworth Camp, a large British Army site. Swinton Barracks, another Army site, is in the west of the parish. History Evidence of prehistoric activity in the area is in the form of several sites with bowl barrows, including a group of seven; and an Iron Age hillfort at Sidbury Hill in the north of the parish.
