Route The line runs from Berlin via Königs Wusterhausen, Lübben, Cottbus, Spremberg, Weißwasser and Horka to Görlitz. The route originally began in Berlin from Görlitz station, a terminal station that was demolished in 1962. 15 KV AC Railway Electrification
Railway electrification systems using at are used on transport railways in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway. The high voltage enables high power transmission with the lower frequency reducing the losses of the traction motors that were available at the beginning of the 20th century. Railway electrification in late 20th century tends to use AC systems which has become the preferred standard for new railway electrifications but extensions of the existing networks are not completely unlikely. In particular, the Gotthard Base Tunnel (opened on 1 June 2016) still uses 15 kV, 16.7 Hz electrification. Due to high conversion costs, it is unlikely that existing systems will be converted to despite the fact that this would reduce the weight of the on-board step-down transformers to one third that of the present devices. History The first electrified railways used series-wound DC motors, first at 600 V and then 1,500 V. Areas with 3 kV ...

Route The line begins at Schöneweide station (originally called ''Niederschöneweide-Johannisthal'') and separates from the main line and turns to the east. Shortly after passing over Adlergestell (an arterial road), which begins here, the line connects to the former Berlin-Schöneweide repair shop of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (german: Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk Berlin-Schöneweide, ''RAW Schöneweide''), now the main workshop of the Berlin S-Bahn. The line descends to ground level and passes over a level crossing over Oberspreestraße (street) to reach Oberspree station. Glasower Damm Ost–Bohnsdorf Süd Railway
The Glasower Damm Ost – Bohnsdorf Süd railway is an electrified, predominantly double-track main line in Germany. It is mainly located in the state of Brandenburg south of Berlin, but a small part of it is in Berlin. It is mainly intended to connect Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) with the underground Berlin Brandenburg Airport station. Its eastern section replaced the Berlin-Grünau – Berlin Schönefeld Airport South railway (''Bahnstrecke Berlin-Grünau – Berlin Flughafen Schönefeld Süd''), which was opened in 1963. This ran parallel to the current line and was mainly used to supply the airport with fuel and building materials. From 1992 to 2010, it was also used for passenger services to the biennial ILA Berlin Air Show. The new continuous line to the airport went into operation in October 2011. Because of the delays in opening the airport, it has no significant traffic so far, apart from the freight traffic to Schönefeld airport. History The construction of the H ...

Berlin Outer Freight Ring
The Berlin Outer Freight Ring (German: ''Güteraußenring'', GAR) was a planned ring railway around the city of Berlin, Germany. The first sections of a line to the west of the city were built in the early 20th century as part of the Brandenburg Bypass Railway (''Umgehungsbahn''). Even then, there were plans for a bypass south of Berlin. The first bits were built in the early 1920 and more sections followed in the 1930s. The line could not be completed due to the impact of the Second World War. The completed section consisted of a mainly single-track link running from Teltow Teltow [] is a town in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, in Brandenburg, Germany. Bundesstraße 96a
The Bundesstraße 96a (B96a) is a federal highway in Germany. It begins in Mahlow south of Berlin on the B96 and ends north of Berlin in Birkenwerder, again on the B96. In the GDR it replaced the route of today's B96 running through West Berlin. In the GDR it was called F 96 and after German reunification it was renamed B96a. The B96 leads from the south near Mahlow to the north towards the city center of Berlin on former West Berlin territory. For this reason, a new route was designated in the GDR, which starts at Mahlow and turns east towards Schönefeld, from there it crosses the Adlergestell in the former East Berlin district of Treptow and crosses the Spree on the Elsenbrücke bridge. In the former district of Friedrichshain, the route runs along Stralauer Allee, Warschauer Straße and today's Petersburger Straße, in the former district of Prenzlauer Berg along today's Danziger Straße and then northwards along Schönhauser Allee. Through the district of Pankow it leads ...
