Berliner Festwochen
The Berliner Festspiele (German for Berlin Festivals) are a series of festivals, art exhibitions, and other cultural events organized all year long by a common organization in Berlin. Events are held at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, a pre-existing theatre devolved to that purpose in 2001, as well as at the Martin-Gropius-Bau and other venues. The first of these events were the Berliner Festwochen (classical music) and the Berlin International Film Festival, in 1951. They contributed to the cultural life of West Berlin in divided Germany, before being expanded into the Eastern part of the city following Reunification. JazzFest Berlin (also known as the Berlin Jazz Festival) is a jazz festival in Berlin, Germany. Berliner Theatertreffen
The Berliner Theatertreffen (''Theatertreffen'' : neologism literally meaning "theatre encounter" or "theatre meeting" ) is a two-week long theatre festival occurring yearly in May in Berlin, Germany. It is a product of the Berliner Festspiele corporation, funded by the Federal Cultural Foundation (''Kulturstiftung des Bundes'') of Germany. During the festival, those ten theatre pieces within the German-speaking realm that have premiered in the previous season and have been voted most noteworthy by the festival jury of seven drama critics are presented on various stages in Berlin. MaerzMusik
MaerzMusik is a festival of the Berliner Festspiele and has been held annually since 2002 in March at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and other venues. It is the successor festival to the Musik-Biennale Berlin and is considered one of the most important festivals for Neue Musik in Germany. The artistic director of MaerzMusik is Kamila Metwaly.
