Berkshire Women Cricket Team
The Berkshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Berkshire. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Summerleaze Road, Maidenhead and Falkland CC, Newbury, and are captained by Ashleigh Muttitt. They competed in Division One of the Women's County Championship until 2017, when they were relegated, and they won the Women's Twenty20 Cup in 2010. They are partnered with the regional side Southern Vipers. History 1936–1999: Early History Berkshire Women played their first recorded match in 1936, against Buckinghamshire Women, which they lost by 66 runs. Maidenhead
Maidenhead is a market town in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in the county of Berkshire, England, on the southwestern bank of the River Thames. 2017 Women's County Championship
The 2017 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 21st cricket Women's County Championship season. It ran from April to August and saw 33 county teams and teams representing Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands compete in a series of divisions. Lancashire Women won the County Championship as winners of the top division with Yorkshire finishing runners-up. This was Lancashire's first Championship, and their victory saw them complete the double, after winning the Twenty20 Cup earlier in the season. The tournament ran alongside the 2017 Women's Twenty20 Cup, and followed by the 2017 Women's Cricket Super League, a professional tournament competed for by franchise teams. Debra Ann Stock (born 17 July 1962) is a former English international cricketer. Lauren Katie Bell (born 2 January 2001) is an English cricketer who plays for Berkshire, Southern Vipers and Southern Brave. She has previously played for Middlesex in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. Leg Spin
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break. Leg spinners bowl mostly leg breaks, varying them by adjusting the line and length, and amount of side spin versus topspin of the deliveries. Mia Elizabeth Wright Rogers (born 29 January 2002) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Berkshire and Sunrisers. She plays as a wicket-keeper and right-handed batter. Anya Shrubsole (born 7 December 1991) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Berkshire, Southern Vipers and the Southern Brave. She played for England between 2008 and 2022, and has previously played domestic cricket for Somerset, Western Storm and Perth Scorchers. Off spin is a type of finger spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called an off spinner. Off spinners are right arm, right-handed spin bowling, spin bowlers who use their fingers to spin the ball. Heather Clare Knight (born 26 December 1990) is an English cricketer who is captain of the England women's cricket team. She is a right-handed batter and right arm off spin bowler. Knight played in her 100th Women's One Day International match for England in December 2019. Early life Knight was born on 26 December 1990 in Rochdale and was educated at Plymstock School, a state secondary school in Plymouth, Devon.
