Arturo Beristain (born September 5, 1949) is a retired Mexican professional wrestler, or ''Luchador'' in Spanish, who works as a wrestling trainer at the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre's (CMLL) gym in Mexico City, Mexico. Beristain is best known for working under two different ring names, ''Talismán'' and ''El Hijo del Gladiador''; both personas started out as '' enmascarados'', or masked, and Beristain lost both masks in ''Luchas de Apuestas''. He lost the Talismán mask to Atlantis in 1984 and the Hijo del Gladiador mask to Rencor Latino in 2000. As Talismán, Beristain won the Mexican National Welterweight Championship twice, the Mexican National Middleweight Championship and the Mexican National Lightweight Championship. Luis Gabriel Beristáin, is a Mexican cinematographer, producer, and television director known for his work on numerous well-known films including '' The Distinguished Gentleman'', '' The Spanish Prisoner'', ''Blade II'', and '' Street Kings'', and several entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe including the ''Agent Carter'' television series. Ignacio Beristáin
Ignacio "Nacho" Beristáin (born July 31, 1939, in Actopan, Veracruz, Mexico) is a Mexican trainer in the sport of boxing. Beristain is a member of the Boxing Hall of Fame and is considered one of the greatest trainers in the history of boxing. Training career Beristain boxed as an amateur in the light flyweight division. He later turned professional, but was forced to retire prematurely in 1959 due to an eye injury. After retirement, he co-managed Vicente Saldivar. As a trainer in the amateur ranks, he led Mexico's boxing teams to multiple medal wins at the 1968, 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games. His first professional world champion was two-division title holder and hall of famer Daniel Zaragoza. José Mariano Beristain
José Mariano Beristáin y Martín de Souza (22 May 1756 – 23 March 1817) was a Mexican bibliographer and author of one of the principal sources of knowledge of the bibliography of Mexico and Central America. Biography He was born in Puebla, Mexico, but went to Spain and spent some time in the family of the former bishop of Puebla, then Archbishop of Toledo. Returning to Mexico (1811) he was made archdeacon of the Metropolitan church of Mexico (1813), and was afterwards its dean. Beristain was a secular priest who had made thorough studies in Mexico and perfected them in Spain under the favourable circumstances. He wrote a number of treatises, some of them on economic subjects, but hardly any were published, the manuscripts being mostly lost in sending them to Europe. He died in Mexico.
