Berbati's Pan
Berbati's Pan (originally Berbati's Restaurant or simply Berbati's) was a Greek restaurant, bar and music nightclub in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was located at 231 Southwest Ankeny Street and operated from 1985 to 2010. Description and history Originally, the business operated as a restaurant called Berbati's, but when the adjacent 24 Hour Church of Elvis moved to a new space in 1994, the owner Ted Papaioannou expanded the restaurant into the former location of the Church of Elvis to include a music venue and renamed the business Berbati's Pan. The bar operated with a jukebox and pool tables, and the restaurant hosted cabaret shows with belly dancing. The venue had a large L-shaped dance floor and three hard liquor bars. It has been described as a "quaint little Greek spot". Five Fingers Of Funk
Five Fingers of Funk, also stylized as 5 Fingers of Funk, is an American hip hop group that formed in 1992 and is currently based in Portland, Oregon. Pete Miser met drummer Talbot Guthrie and together they formed what originally was a nine-piece group. They grew to be a ten-piece group that performed at venues such as La Luna, Satyricon, Roseland Theater, X-Ray Cafe, and Berbati's Pan. The group is an example of hip hop from Portland, where it's generally considered lacking. Pete Miser, the lead vocalist described the Portland hip hop culture as "dope, but it has such a marginalized status". The members take influence from old-school rap and Bootsy Collins funk and differ from their peers by generating sounds from instruments instead of electronic sampling. Ramble Jon Krohn (born May 27, 1976), better known by his stage name RJD2, is an American musician based in Columbus, Ohio. He is the owner of record label RJ's Electrical Connections. He has been a member of groups such as Soul Position, MHz Legacy, and Icebird. His stage name derives from the popular ''Star Wars'' droid R2-D2. Harvey Danger was an American alternative rock band that was formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1992 by journalism students at the University of Washington. The band rose to prominence in 1997 with the single "Flagpole Sitta", which was later used as the theme tune to the British sitcom ''Peep Show''. After recording two albums, they went on hiatus for a few years and returned with their third and final release in 2005. Ellegarden (stylized as ELLEGARDEN) is a Japanese rock band formed in December 1998 in Chiba, Japan. Ellegarden consists of drummer Hirotaka Takahashi, vocalist/guitarist Takeshi Hosomi, guitarist Shinichi Ubukata, and bassist Yuichi Takada. In 2008, Ellegarden announced an indefinite hiatus, which lasted almost 10 years. In May 2018, Ellegarden announced a reunion with their first national tour since the hiatus. Creeper Lagoon is a San Francisco indie-rock band originally started by Sharky Laguana as a solo project in 1991. They are currently on Laguana's digital record label, Neglektra. History Sharky Laguana and Ian Sefchick both played in the Cincinnati, Ohio, punk band The Rottweilers while in high school. In 1990, Laguana moved out to San Francisco with his four-track and started Creeper Lagoon as a solo project. Sefchick moved to San Francisco some years later, did a brief stint with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and then reunited with Laguana in Creeper Lagoon. The lineup was rounded out by bassist Geoffrey Chisholm and drummer Patrick Mangan (who was later replaced by David Kostiner).
