Benoît Sauvageau
Benoît Sauvageau (November 22, 1963 – August 28, 2006) was a Canadian politician, who served as a Bloc Québécois member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1993 until his death in 2006. Born in Charlemagne, Quebec, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a professor before entering politics. In 1993, he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the Quebec riding of Terrebonne. He was subsequently re-elected in the 1997, 2000, and 2004 elections in the redistricted riding of Repentigny. From 2003 to 2004, he was the Deputy Whip of the Bloc Québécois. In the federal election that fell on January 23, 2006, Sauvageau garnered over 62% of the vote in his riding for a landslide victory over the Conservatives and the Liberals, who were still reeling from their political fallout from the sponsorship scandal. Charlemagne () is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec, Canada on the north shore of the Rivière des Prairies, northeast of Montreal's downtown core. In 2021, the population was 6,302. Le Canal Nouvelles (LCN) is a Television in Canada, Canadian French language discretionary service 24-hour headline news channel owned by Groupe TVA, a division of Québecor. Its broadcasting headquarters are located in Montreal, Quebec. The channel, operated and programmed by the TVA Nouvelles division, was launched on September 8, 1997. Programming LCN broadcasts two 30-minute news segments per hour with headlines scrolling at the bottom of the screen. Québecor also owns the TVA (Canadian TV network), TVA network. William Carvel Graham (March 17, 1939 – August 7, 2022) was a Canadian lawyer, academic and politician. Graham served as the minister of foreign affairs, minister of national defence, leader of the opposition and interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. After leaving politics, he was the chancellor of Trinity College at the University of Toronto.
