Benoy Krishna Konar
Benoy Krishna Konar (1930-14 September 2014) was an Indian politician who started as a peasant leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and went to be a three time MLA in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Benoy Krishna was born in 1930 in an affluent family of farmers in Memari in Purba Bardhaman district. He was younger brother of Hare Krishna Konar,"who pioneered the land reforms movement in Bengal." He joined the undivided Communist Party of India in 1948. He was a leading figure in the militant peasants' movement in West Bengal during the 1960s and early 1970s, He was the president of the West Bengal and central units of the All India Kisan Sabha, the peasants’ front organisation of the CPI(M). He was directly involved in the Sainbari murder. He was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from the Memari (Vidhan Sabha constituency) in 1969, 1971 and 1977. Hare Krishna Konar
Hare Krishna Konar ( bn, হরেকৃষ্ণ কোঙার, Harēkr̥ṣṇa kōṅāra, ; 5 August 1915 – 23 July 1974) was an Indian Marxist revolutionary, radical activist and Communist politician. Konar was a founding member of Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the leader to start the first land reforms and agrarian reforms in India as well as the chief architect of the West Bengal land and property distribution. In the 1930s for making arms and bombs for the Jugantar group, he was deported to the Cellular Jail for 6 years at the age of 18 and there he took part in the first hunger strike and in 1935 he founded the Communist Consolidation and led the historical second hunger strike. Sainbari Murder
The Sainbari Murder occurred in 1970 in the house of Sain family in Bardhaman in West Bengal in India, where several people were killed. Incident The newspaper incident report puts the date of the incident occurred on 17 March 1970. The Sain brothers were members of a family with strong allegiance towards the Indian National Congress. Naba Kumar Sain — the eldest son of the family —was allegedly blinded and his eyes gouged out while his younger brothers, Malay and Pranab were allegedly hacked to death in front of the watching family members, by the perpetrators. Naba Kumar was killed a year later. The entire incident was done by CPI(M) members, because of the family's support towards Indian National Congress and the victims' refusal to switch allegiance to the CPI(M).
