Benn Conger
Benn Conger (October 29, 1856 – February 28, 1922) was an American businessman, banker and politician from New York. Life He was born on October 29, 1856, in Groton, Tompkins County, New York. He was President of the Standard Typewriter Company which was renamed Corona Typewriter Company in 1914, and merged after his death to form Smith Corona. He was also President of the Groton Mechanics' Bank. Conger was a member of the New York State Assembly (Tompkins Co.) in 1900 and 1901. Groton (village), New York
Groton is a village in Tompkins County, New York, United States. The population was 2,363 at the 2010 census. The Village of Groton is near the center of the Town of Groton and is northeast of Ithaca and west of Cortland. History The village lies within the former Central New York Military Tract and was first settled by outsiders around 1795. Before then, the only purpose of the land surrounding Groton was to host the winding trails of the Native Americans that once lived in central New York. Also, they used the Owasco Inlet as a water source for their people, and possibly for transportation, though it is very shallow at some points. The village was within Cayuga County until Tompkins County was formed in 1817. The Village of Groton was incorporated in 1860. The village was served by the Southern Central Railroad, and then later by the Lehigh Valley Railroad after the former was incorporated into the latter's system. Jotham or Yotam (; el, Ιωαθαμ, Ioatham; la, Joatham) was the eleventh king of Judah, and son of King Uzziah and Jerusha (or Jerushah), daughter of Zadok. Jotham was 25 years old when he began his reign, and he reigned for 16 years. Edwin R. Thiele concluded that his reign commenced as a coregency with his father, which lasted for 11 years. Because his father Uzziah was afflicted with ''tzaraath'' after he went into the Temple to burn incense, Jotham became governor of the palace and the land at that time, i.e. coregent, while his father lived in a separate house as a leper. William F. Albright dated his reign to 742–735 BCE. Thiele dated his coregency with Uzziah starting in 751/750 BCE and his sole reign from 740/39 to 736/735 BCE, at which time he was deposed by the pro-Assyrian faction in favor of his son Ahaz.
