The Benkersandstein (German for Benker Sandstone) is a geologic formation in Germany. It preserves fossils dating back to the Late Triassic (Carnian) period. Halszka Osmólska
Halszka Osmólska (September 15, 1930 – March 31, 2008) was a Polish paleontologist who had specialized in Mongolian dinosaurs. Biography She was born in 1930 in Poznań. In 1949, she began to study biology at Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences of the University of Poznań before moving to Warsaw and studying at the Warsaw University, which she graduated from in 1955. Since then she worked at the Institute of Paleobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). Between 1983–1988, she served as the institute's director. She was a member of the Polish–Mongolian expeditions to the Gobi Desert (1963–1965 and 1967–1971) and she described many finds from these rocks, often with Teresa Maryańska. Peter Dodson (born August 20, 1946) is an American paleontologist who has published many papers and written and collaborated on books about dinosaurs. An authority on Ceratopsians, he has also authored several papers and textbooks on hadrosaurs and sauropods, and is a co-editor of ''The Dinosauria'', widely considered the definitive scholarly reference on dinosaurs. Dodson described ''Avaceratops'' in 1986; ''Suuwassea'' in 2004, and many others, while his students have named ''Paralititan'' and '' Auroraceratops''. He has conducted field research in Canada, the United States, India, Madagascar, Egypt, Argentina, and China. Madygen Formation
The Madygen Formation (Russian: Madygen Svita) is a Late Triassic (Carnian) geologic formation and Lagerstätte in the Batken and Osh Regions of western Kyrgyzstan, with minor outcrops in neighboring Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The conglomerates, sandstones and mudstones of the thick formation were deposited in terrestrial lacustrine, alluvial, fluvial and deltaic environments. The formation, extending across the Fergana Valley and Fergana Range, is unique for Central Asia, as it represents one of the few known continental deposits and the Madygen Formation is renowned for the preservation of more than 20,000 fossil insects, making it one of the richest Triassic Lagerstätten in the world. The Denmark Hill Insect Bed is a Triassic fossil locality in the Denmark Hill Conservation Park of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. Description It belongs to the Blackstone Formation (Ipswich Coal Measures Group) dated to the Carnian age (228.0 - 216.5 million years ago). Its coordinates are . Its paleogeographic coordinates are . The fossiliferous layer is located in between the Bluff coal seam and the Aberdare coal seam. Molteno Formation
The Molteno Formation is a geological formation found in several localities in Lesotho and South Africa. It lies mainly south of Maseru, near Burgersdorp, Aliwal North, Dordrecht, Molteno, and Elliot. It extends as far north as Matatiele in the Eastern Cape. The formation's localities lie along the Drakensberg Mountains in Kwazulu-Natal, and near Ladybrand in the Free State of South Africa.
