Benjamin Tipper
Benjamin Claude Cecil Tipper (7 July 1896 – 11 July 1970) was an English cricketer who played five first-class matches for Worcestershire in 1919. All were friendlies, as Worcestershire did not re-enter the County Championship until the following year. Career Tipper made his debut on 23 June against Gloucestershire, and his 42 in the first innings helped avert a crisis; he had come in with the score on 27/5, but his steadying knock helped the team to 201. He also took 2/49 in Gloucestershire's own first innings (his first victim being Alfred Dipper), but second time around he was out for 3 and he took no more wickets before the game finished in a draw. Tipper had no notable success in his next three games, although in mid-August (once more against Gloucestershire) he took the final two wickets in the first innings to record his best bowling analysis of 1.2-1-0-2. Kings Norton
Kings Norton, alternatively King's Norton, is an area of Birmingham, England. Historically in Worcestershire, it was also a Birmingham City Council ward within the Government of Birmingham, England. The district lies 6.5 miles south-southwest of Birmingham city centre and is within 1.5 miles of the north Worcestershire border. Kings Norton has been split into two wards, Kings Norton North and Kings Norton South. History There was Romano-British occupation near the later town. Excavations at Kings Norton found signs of a small Romano-British settlement, including Roman pottery and a Roman ditch at Parsons Hill, near Icknield Street. Gloucestershire County Cricket Club
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Gloucestershire. Founded in 1870, Gloucestershire have always been first-class and have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club played its first senior match in 1870 and W. G. Grace was their captain. The club plays home games at the Bristol County Ground in the Bishopston area of north Bristol. A number of games are also played at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival at the College Ground, Cheltenham and matches have also been played at the Gloucester cricket festival at The King's School, Gloucester. Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Warwickshire. Bowling Analysis
In cricket, a bowling analysis (sometimes shortened to just analysis, especially in the phrase innings analysis, and also referred to as bowling figures) usually refers to a notation summarising a bowler's performance in terms of overs bowled, how many of those overs are maidens (i.e. with no runs conceded), total runs conceded and number of wickets taken. Bowling analyses are generally given for each innings in cricket scoreboards printed in ''Wisden Cricketers' Almanack'', newspapers and so on, but they are also sometimes quoted for other periods of time, such as a single spell of bowling. Typically, the analysis is given in the following format: Overs – Maidens – Runs conceded – Wickets. In some cases, overs and maidens are omitted from bowling figures, and are recorded showing 'Wickets/Runs'; for example, 7/15 by Glenn McGrath against Namibia shows he took his 7 wickets for 15 runs. Alfred Dipper
Alfred Ernest Dipper (9 November 1885 – 7 November 1945) was an English professional cricketer who played for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club from 1908 to 1932, and in one Test match for England in 1921. He was born at Apperley, Gloucestershire, and died at Lambeth, London. Dipper was a right-handed opening batsman who played in 481 first-class matches. He scored 28,075 career runs at an average of 35.27 runs per completed innings with a highest score of 252 * as one of 53 centuries. Dipper was an occasional right arm medium pace bowler and took 161 first-class wickets with a best return of 7/46. He took five wickets in an innings five times and ten wickets in a match once. His best match return was 14/104. He was generally perceived to be a weak fielder due to lack of mobility, but he held 210 career catches. The County Championship (referred to as the LV= Insurance County Championship for sponsorship reasons) is the domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales and is organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It became an official title in 1890. The competition consists of eighteen clubs named after, and representing historic counties, seventeen from England and one from Wales.
